Started my 2014 1500 and got a check engine light. Have jiffy line out an obd reader and found that it has p0456. Truck has 72k. Replaced the gas cap to see if this happens again. Anyone had this issue and what were your fix?

So I would get the gas cap light every other week and the code now and then. Finally my gas cap light would not go out. I bought a new purge solenoid at oreilys for like 14 bucks.
On my truck it’s under the battery, on others it’s on the intake manifold. Swapped it out, took about 5 minutes. No more light or code for the past few weeks.
I have a 2014 1500 and didn't get a gas light but rather a check engine light; when put to the OBD reader is shows P0456. Did your check engine light also go out without having to reset it?It went out right away.
So your 2012 ram have a gas cap light? interesting.... thanks for the info!i have a diablo tuner so when i would get the light i would clear it. It was not on when i changed the purge valve so im not sure if it would have gone off right away or after about 50-80 miles of driving.
Bring it in for a smoke test or if you have a pump, connect it and see if the pressure drops. If it does then you know it’s from the line somewhere. I heard your year, the line above the gas tank where the ventilator pump sites can rupture at the end. There was a guy who did a YouTube video of it.I have the same code in my '05. I've replaced every component in the system except for the tubing (which is no longer available), and I still get the code. I just reset it now instead of throwing more money at it.
