There are two blank spots behind my steering wheel. Are those for paddle shifters or radio controls? If so is either one able to be installed in my express easily or on the cheap?

Are the radio controls easy to obtain and install? Anyone tried this?

Theirs a kit from one of the vendors. Allmoparparts.com I believe

I swapped to a leather steering wheel with the controls already installed from seats and such

why you want a paddle shifter on the back of the steering wheel, when there is already the function above the cruise control?
just asking what the benefit would be from that?
It would be only for the 8-speed anyway and there it's stock equipment.
The radio- yes- I would like that- my wife has it in the charger. but would the benefit justify the cost?

We would need some programming to have paddle shifting on demand, at least for up shifting as that is not instant.

There's another paddle shifter thread floating around. A guy local to me has done a few kits for paddle shifters in the 8 speed trucks using the same Mercedes paddles that the LX cars use. Having driven one of them, the paddles shift faster than the steering wheel buttons do which is a bonus and its a lot more fun driving with the paddles than pushing the buttons.

Why would you want paddle shifters if they don't actually shift...

I could definitely benefit from having the paddle shifters on my steering wheel. If I don't have my thumb on the - or + buttons I'll end up pushing the cruise control ones wondering why the hell it isn't shifting like I want it too.

I don't necessarily want paddle shifter or have the need for them. Would they be cool to have? Sure! Why not? I would want the radio controls more than anything. The benefit would justify the cost of the cost isn't astronomical. I have to look into it. I would like to change songs on my phone and the actual radio itself through the steering wheel controls if possible.
