Has anyone done a complete paint change on their Ram? Because I don't feel like calling and asking a shop how much do you guys think is a fair price for such a job? More out of curiosity doubt i would ever do it.

Paint jobs can range from a few hundred to many thousands depending on the type of paint and quality of the job you want.

Like painting anything, the labor is in the prep. If it is a complete color change you need to figure how deep you want to go and how much you want disassembled.

Sick of maintaining a black vehicle?

wrap it

Yes black sucks for that reason but thats not it at all. I really just had no idea what it should or would cost. I like to be different as well and would love to do a midnight purple. I doubt it'll ever happen but that is my dream colour.

If I had to guess….for a good quality base/clearcoat job of similar quality to the finish your truck came with……..leaving no obvious trace of the old color…….somewhere in the $6-8K range. Not talking show quality here, but its a lot of labor. Could be much less depending how much disassembly and prep work you are willing to do yourself.

Thanks man. Wasn't expecting it to be $1000 but $8000 is a lot for paint, although I'm sure prep would take forever. Maybe if i win the lottery I'll pull trigger.

Yeah, its a lot of work. Think about it. All the glass, doors, interior, fenders, and bed need to come off. Engine gets pulled to paint engine compartment. You get the idea………of course you could just opt for a mask job………….but everyone would know it was a repaint.

Oh ya. I wouldn't be surprised if the paint alone would be in the $3500 range by itself. Just basic, nothing like 4 coats of clear or anything. Just primer, paint, hardner, clear....

It would have to be a total frame off restoration. Even the support behind the headlights are painted the same as the body.

Then put it all back together.

If I won the lottery, I doubt I'd be looking at a Ram. I'd hire someone who has one to do what ever I need a truck for, to do it for me....Lmao

Yeah i love my black finish but living on dirt roads i was done with maintenance so i had it wrapped for $1700. Its a nice alternate method of a full color change without losing the original paint *within means*

Sorry to get off topic how is the wrap holding up? I haven't read much on reviews after a few years of install.

There is small tears on the bottom front bumper from scraping but that is expected with 4/6 drop. Other than that it is hold up great to the elements and driving after 2 years. About to wrap my Jeep in the next month.

WRAP IT!!!

It would probably cost you around $2500-$3000 to wrap it and you can get as crazy as you want with designs.

I had a 2004 Victory Red Avalanche. First I did a partial wrap and it looked very very good. A few years down the road I was considering the color of my next toy so I decided to go with a full wrap just to play with colors. I've always wanted to toy around with yellow and black so I had the truck wrapped in both. I figured out I would never own either!!! lol
When it came time to sell the truck 10 years later...I had brand new looking Victory Red paint underneath!!

You can wash it, wax it, strip it, buff it..you name it and if you can take it off when you get sick of it!!

I would love to go with a custom paint job but I know that's going to be $10k easy
