Hi guys,
This is my first time posting in this forum so please forgive any errors I make regarding conduct.

I have an issue with my '1500 sport. I live on a hill, and I have to back into my driveway that is also on a hill perpendicular to the road. Naturally I use my parking break everytime. Recently I noticed a slight metal on metal sound when I drive and turn the wheel to the right. I got under the truck after I figured out the general area that the sound was coming from (rear drivers side) and found the attached. Im not even sure what to call it? The lever? I know its what engades the pads to the drum.

My questions are these:

Should this be covered under warranty?

And, if not, would this be an inexpensive DIY?

I tried to search the part, but Im not sure Im using the right terminology to narrow my search.

Please help with any advice

Just realized I typed "break" instead of "Brake" give me a minute and Ill think of a good excuse...

This would be covered under warranty, it's not a wear part and should not happen. It's a safety issue so this should get fixed right away.

i agree should be covered. that is a weak part in the casting. most likely a an air pocket or something. unfortunately there is not really a single person/company that you can get mad at since the defect was most likely internal to the exterior visible surfaces.

Thanks guys! I was hoping that was the case. Just for future reference, does anyone know what this part is called?

The entire parking brake assembly would need to be ordered/replaced. The housing can't be ordered separately, at least not from the screens I have. For a DIY it's cheap enough though, my list is $163 for the part with 2 hours labour.

Im a horrid speller and noticed the misuse but the parking brake did break so technically your alright with your title. ha

I would say its not a wear part and would take it in. If they deny it then can come back and hopefully someone can guide you.
