2011 Ram 5.7. Stock lifter collapsed at 162k miles. I purchased the AMS Racing MDS delete kit with Diablo Tuner. Installed everything. Turned off MDS with Tuner. Truck started right up. Runs great!
However I have codes P0016 and P000B and I can’t get rid of them! I’ve changed the crank and cam sensors. I’ve changed the VVT solenoid TWICE. Changed oil with Mobil1 5w20 and NAPA Gold (Wix) filter. I can turn off the CEL with the tuner and it drives perfect. Idles perfect. Runs great. EXCEPT that when CEL is on, those codes cause the truck to go into limp-home mode so it won’t shift higher than 4th gear and won’t downshift at all.
I’m at a loss of what to do next. I’ve read every post and watched every video on these codes that I could find. All say to replace VVT solenoid. Which I’ve done twice now. Also checked wires to solenoid. They look good and I’m getting power to the solenoid.
Again if I clear the codes with the tuner it runs and drives PERFECT. UNTIL the next time I start the truck. After about 15 seconds the codes reappear.
I don’t know if I need to pull the front cover again to check timing or what. If the timing was off by one tooth I wouldn’t think the truck would run or start as well as it does.
Thanks!
