If they brought out the Hurricane with a few upgrades, like a divoced intake manifold and a flipping dipstick,i might lean towards the hurricane, but with-out at least those upgrades, i'm still a Hemi fan :waytogo: :Big Laugh:

I love my HO. It is fast, pulls hard and gets decent MPG. No dipstick, no care. Was worried at first but since my oil change, meh.

I would have probably have a 6.4 in the 1500 over the HO if offered, but that would have been a blind decision due to the "V8". But a 6.4 will get dismal MPG and I tow.

So I stand by my decision on the 3.0 HO

I too like my SST HO. My 4th Ram 1500 now. 2014 Sport V8, 2017 V8, 2021 V8.
All of them had engine noise/clatter if one description or another. All under 40,000mls too!
Not a peep from this engine. Weird intake noise, yes, but driven several more and it is the way they are.
Fast, nimble and about the same MPG.
Only downside is the premium fuel. I knew that before purchase, just didn’t really think it thru lol.

I am tired of getting 11-14 mpg which has been the range for my truck for the last decade. And I prefer something with a good proven longevity, so my vote my surprise some folks, but for me I like the idea of the pentastar option. I don't prefer di turbos' for many reasons, will even be worse when they start mandating filters on them. I tow less then 5k pounds and I do not need the extra HP = too much of a cost to me.

The 2025 Ram 1500 with the 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine can achieve an EPA-estimated 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway with 2WD and an 8-speed automatic transmission. With 4WD, the EPA-estimated fuel economy is 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

3.55's, they are actually horrible paired with the 545rfe. Had I known then what I know now, I would have waited and got the 65rfe/3.92's.

But a 6.4 will get dismal MPG
If I remember correctly in one of the 6.4 swap threads where a guy on here swapped his 5.7 (bad cam/lifters) for a 6.4 in a 1/2 ton he actually saw a touch better mpg after the swap.

Even if you look at gm's. In a 1/2 ton silverado there's only a "rated" one mpg difference between their 5.3 and 6.2's city and highway.

If you do a lot of stop and go driving yeah I can see the 6.4 getting a lot worse. Mostly depends on how and where you drive.

I want a Longhorn 1500 with 6.4L, with corrected cam/lifter oiling issues, and corrected exhaust manifolds. I never want to hear the infamous 'hemi tick'.

I'd vastly prefer no MDS and no Stop/Start, but those can usually be disabled somehow.

If it has eTorque, then it becomes a DO NOT BUY for me, no matter what.

I initially voted for the Hemi, but after thinking about it I realized our next Ram truck will probably be the Ramcharger. And since it will come with the Pentastar engine I changed my vote to that. But if I were going to buy a traditionally powered truck I would definitely opt for one with the Hemi versus either Hurricane version.

I Just bought a new 1500 with the hurricane in it. It's got almost 1,000 miles on it now. I have to say, while I miss the sound of a V8, that hurricane is a rocket!!! Even with so little miles on it I'm getting 21 - 23 mpg and I love it! I miss the roar of the HEMI, but I'll deal. I'm loving this 2025 Big Horn

Toying with 100 votes already and despite 5 options up there, we see a 70% clip at ram forum preferring the hemi. We will see how this looks a year from now, but pretty definite result here. If you ask simple minded Burla, perhaps they should have developed a 6 cylinder hemi w/o turbo or direct injection. I'd be all about a port injected v6 hemi with my needs as an aging man with his glory years behind him.

In the market
I could see the ram charger if it had 20% as much battery capacity and more payload.

But realistically at this point, I am looking at a 3500 SRW megacab, so it might not be relevant.

Actual numbers aren't available to the public yet, so all we have is Ram's targeted numbers. But those numbers are pretty impressive for a half ton truck IMHO, and exceed even some 2500's out there...

I have a 25 Pentastar 4x4 get 20 in the city easy, and 26 highway easy.
Love this engine so far, 13,000 miles.
