so called 3 dealers today and all 3 told me you cannot get power fold tow mirrors? anybody have them to debunk this? none of the 3 seemed 100% certain but all said the same thing. and tow mirrors are backordered until march

What trucks are you talking about? As it’s kinda sorta been mentioned, if you’re asking this in regards to a 1500 then no half-ton 4th gen or 5th gen comes from the factory with tow mirrors that fold inwards to the cab at the press of a button. That’s only available on the Heavy Duty’s.

You can buy the power fold mirrors, and all the other stuff to convert yours but you’ll never see one factory.

Installed my power folding mirrors myself. Definitely can be done. The dealerships have no clue.6432f5fc39abd0225a68c4a4cc97e897.jpge6eb49cf1ee0d9615047c5bb65129b00.jpg

4th Gen 2500 trucks did have powerfold tow mirrors.

That is why the tow mirror debacle of the 5th Gen is so confusing. They don't even have heat on a tradesman, bighorn, or Rebel.

It leads me to believe RAM really wanted to do away with the tow mirrors on 1500 trucks.

A 5th Gen RAM 1500 (2019 or 2020) will not have powerfold or surround view as an option with tow mirrors.

A 2019 RAM HD will have powerfold and surround view as an option on tow mirrors.

Which, once again leads me to believe the tow mirrors were planned to be left off the 1500, but someone said, let's give the option though.

I fixed my post to reflect this. I intended it to highlight the 5th Gen blunder and mistyped the 1 instead of the 2.

I was gonna say, where the hell did you ever see one because out of all the last-year 4th-Gens I looked at, not a single one of them had the power-fold tow mirrors. I don’t know why. Even several dealerships I called in and in surrounding towns of both Dallas and OKC, same thing. lol. Almost every one of the upper-end HD’s had them but zero 1500’s. Doesn’t make sense. It’s the same cab. Same gawky mirrors that need folding in almost every where you go.

I know, my 2008 1500 had them and the only reason why at a short time I was gonna get them on my new truck, was because of that feature but since they thought only the 2500’s and the 3500’s needed that button, I’m glad my new half ton doesn’t have them. I found out later I could add them but, I don’t need them. They were a pain in the ass on the old truck and, I never pulled anything long enough to new those goofy things. Lol.

No they didn’t. Not stock, anyways. You could add them yourself after the fact but they didn’t not come factory that way.

Even though I’m not interested in the things anyway, I still don’t understand why the halftons didn’t have that option from the factory. Just doesn’t make sense.

Keep in mind that the 2019 Heavy Duty Rams are not really Gen5's, they are more like a Gen 4.5. The 2019 HD's still use the same Gen 4 cabs and doors. The 1500 Gen 5 uses DIFFERENT cabs and doors than 1500 Gen 4's. A side mirror from a 1500 Gen 5 will NOT fit the 2019 HD's and the reverse of this is also true. This may help explain why a 2019 1500 does not have powerfold and surround view tow mirrors since those mirrors on the 2019 HD's will not fit a Gen 5 1500 and also have different wiring.

@TC...are yours OEM or aftermarket? Been hearing that you can't get OEM power fold when you buy them from the dealers after the fact.

As far as me asking for either 1500 or 2500 it really doesn't matter, just in general. My step-father has a 2017 1500 Laramie Longhorn with all the toys and tow mirrors but not power fold. Mine and my sons trucks (both 2018 2500's) have standard power fold mirrors. My son just got the Trail Ridge power fold tow mirrors the other day but hasn't put them on yet.

Well, it does kinda matter because of the specific question you were originally asking.

1A auto parts have great tow mirrors. I have 2014 Laramie heated, power fold etc. Replaced with tow mirrors from 1A that have all the functions. pricey but worth it. Was told at Ram dealer ram doesn't sell tow mirrors.

Ram sells them but they are backordered until at least March. There are 6 dealers in the country that has them in stock as of about 1 month ago. 1 only has 1 mirror in the box and another has them but will not sell them. So my son bought the Trail Ridge from 1A a couple weeks ago
