I ordered a kit from infotainment.com, that contained a bezel, HVAC, 7 speed fan resistor, 911 assist over-ride, and all the necessary cables. I then got a radio from a guy on kijiji in order to save me 1000 dollars on not buying their radio. I am having a lot of problems after installing these items into my truck, and need thoughts on what each of the problems could be.

1. Radio turns on, crashes, then reboots with factory settings, it does this even when the truck is off, so I had to unplug the battery in order to avoid draining it. It worked at one point only crashing periodically, but has since changed to be persistent. I have a video of this below.

2. The fan temperature when the radio is stuck at 72 Fahrenheit and refuses to change unless I press the max A/C button. I checked all the cables including the one that connects to the bezel to ensure that this wasn't just a cord not being properly plugged in.

3. The USB port in the jumper seat no longer works, which is a shame because I cannot use the apple car play, so therefore loose the navigation potential my radio has.

4. I am unsure of how I can change the units from F to C in the radio, as I live in Canada. Everything else in my truck is measured in Celsius, and I am unsure of how to change the radio to read in Celsius. I have seen people talk about it being in settings, but cannot personally find this option in the settings. (This one is less important to me.

I am unaware of what I should do to carry on. I could probably get at least some of my money back from the guy through Kijiji, and look for another radio. I also wonder if the climate control being stuck at 72 is because of a faulty bezel. If someone could give me their input on what I should do it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What is the part number on the back of your radio?

I have heard when you do the upgrade, the usb hub doesn't transfer, you have to get one that is specific to the RA3 / RA4 model.

Alright. Any clue where I can find a replacement? Would I also have to replace the cord that connects to the radio, or just the USB port

This is all I have without taking out the radio.

Here's the info...

CHRYSLER
Model : Uconnect 8.4 UCS
Part/Model : 68340153AJ
Manufacturer : PANASONIC

I haven't heard of a UCS before. I'm guessing maybe its a country specific UAS? Anyway, what was stated earlier is correct. IF this radio is capable of Android Auto and CarPlay, then you will also need to change your USB hub to a compatible version.

Alright that makes sense to me. I’ll have to check with my local dealership and see what I can get for parts from them. Any ideas about other problems? The radio keeps flashing on and off, and factory resetting itself unless I unplug the battery. Is that a problem with the radio?

Sounds like a defective radio. Try to get a US radio next time.

RADIO: 68331631AH (UAQ) or 68331635AH (UAS)

The last two letters are revisions so don't stress if the radio you are looking at has a different suffix.

EDIT: My mistake, I did see the OP was in Canada. If it is a Canadian spec truck try to find Canadian radio (UCQ, UCS). If it is a US spec truck, try to find a US radio (UAQ, UAS).

Yes, I would consider returning it if that's the case. I'm not familiar with the UCS but it says it's a Ram part from everything I see.

I'd feel more confident advising you if it were a UAQ or UAS, but these radios are too expensive to deal with problems like that right off the bat. Normally, after install and at least 2 hours of the radio settling in everything should work properly.

okay. I’m not sure where I would find one, as I live in Canada. I’m almost wondering if this isn’t a radio from the US, just because everything is pre set in Fahrenheit and not Celsius.

Alright. I’ll talk to the guy I bought it from and see what can happen about it. I’m not sure he will take it back as it’s a private sale, and not a new radio from a dealership. Thanks for your help.

Lots can be found on Car-Parts.com in Canadian salvage yards. I payed $300 for mine but you have to be pretty diligent to find one at a good price.

WHen you fin one from a salvager, ask for pictures of the tag you sent me here and/or have them give you the information on that tag. Got to this site and enter in the info

https://www.ivgsoft.com/radiocode.php?id=6823

That's how I generated the information you just gave me to find out about the radio (you can also purchase the anti-theft code from that site).

In addition, you can go to this site and enter the VIN (must be in ALL CAPS) to see the build sheet for a truck you have found that you believe might have the part you are looking for. It will list if the radio has just Android Auto and CarPlay or if it also is equipped with onboard navigation (just search the sheet for NAV).

https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing

You can do the same here too to see the window stickers (enter the VIN youwant to look up in ALL CAPS after the "=" sign)...

Alright. Here is another video of what it is doing. I can keep the truck batter connected, but the radio won’t stay on. It is not factory resetting anymore though. Any thoughts on what this could be? Or is it just the radio being broken?
