Radiator overflow is empty

Decided to check my radiator overflow today and it is bone dry empty. I have seen other people say they did the same thing. Any idea what thats about? 2019 Ram 1500 Tradesman, no leaks, nothing on the ground, runs between the same temperatures all the time. 199-208. I know it has a minimum and a maximum on the overflow dipstick but nothing on it. I was going to take the radiator cap off and make sure it was full but that cap is tough to get off. If the overflow is empty should I take it to the dealership?

Fill with distilled water, I wouldn't worry about it as long as rad is full. Remove rad cap? level right at top?

I was trying, you have to push it down and turn to get the cap off, correct?

If you are still under factory warranty, sure take it to them

If you want to check it out for yourself, most people remove the inner fender.

Myself, i would raise the truck enough to remove the tire, use a jack stand

Radiator is completely full, completely.

No, fill the overflow tank with 50/50 mixture of Mopar OAT coolant

What crash68 said, When I purchased my ram my jug was empty the dealer is suppose to top off all levels, they over look that and the windshield washer bottle.

I wouldn’t worry, some evaporation is normal but that does seem like a lot for a 2019. You can pick up a jug of mopar premixed coolant prettt cheap and top it off. Keep an eye on it. If it goes down again you may need to investigate, could be something as simple as replacing your rad cap.

If your exhaust smells sweet or you engine oil looks frothy/milky….that’s the appropriate time to panic.
