Radio cuts out

I have a 2013 ram 2500, for a couple years not the radio has been cutting out. No static just plays, then nothing. Power is on to the radio, screen stays on just no sound. Hoping someone here knows what I should be looking for. I want to replace the radio with one with blutooth and a built in back up camera screen. But want to find out what this issue is first. I have heard that there is a built in amp in the truck that could be causing the problem, but hoping it is the radio since I am replacing it anyway.

I know on my 12 when I had a shorty antenna it was awful. The stock one works better IMO, but I just use bluetooth to play music as local radio stinks here.

Its likely the radio, you don't have a factory amp.

Same problem on my 2012 3500. I pulled the radio out then removed a metal cover. Plugged it back in while pushing on one area of circuit board and it would work until I took my finger away. So, it was a bad solder joint which I don't think I can resolder because the components are so tiny. I'm gonna take it to an electronics repair place and show them so they can resolder it. Hope this helps.
