Depends on how much you haul or tow, how heavy the loads are, how dusty it is in your area, etc...

There are two service schedules in your owner's manual, Schedule A and Schedule B. Use the one that most closely approximates your vehicle usage.

Considering its +/- 2 years old I'm somewhat concerned that you're just now asking :)

The meter in the DIC is probably the best bet. It factors in driving conditions and time and gives you a pretty good idea. My old diesel (an 06) would usually get down below 20% after about 8K miles. I'd usually do the fuel filter with an oil change unless I was in a hurry or didn't have a filter handy. The fuel filters (again per the DIC) was more like 10-12K miles.

The newer emissions might change things some so others might chime in with more up to date advice.
