OK, so I was thrilled when the lift went in on my 12' 1500, and it was a noticeable change to the leveling kit I had previously. However, after 2 weeks I guess I am becoming more scrutinizing and have noticed that the front of the truck has a rake - despite the kit claiming to level the front with the rear.... Grrrr. So, I got out my tape measure, measiuring from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel well and indeed the front is 1 3/4 inches LOWER than the rear - Bah!

I called RC, and they had me doing some preliminary checks to see if the parts sent were a mixture of 4" or 6" kits - possibly this would account for almost 2" variance. NOPE, all parts measured out per the 6" Kit I paid for. After some thought and several calls, they claim that after having switched to spacers in the rear versus the coils, I am getting more than 6" in the rear. As each truck is different, they cannot account for all. So the suggestion is to add new 4" spacers (they are sending them to me free) to the rear and level it out. :mad3:

First off, I am not thrilled about having to redo the rear lift. Second, I am not at all thrilled to be losing height I paid significant $'s for. So, I had the idea of adding Bilsteins to the front to make up the difference in height. When running this by RC they warned against it as it would cause a binding of the front CV Joints?? Crap, that would suck.

So, I am in a quandary at the moment. I can live with the rake, but it really annoys me. Thats the whole reason I went with this kit in the first place.... to lose the rake!!

What is everyones thought on the Bilstein approach? Does everyone agree on the binding that will ocurr? Additionally, has anyone else experienced this problem with an RCX 6" lift? I am all ears! Thanks in advance.

A lot of people run a 6" kit stacked on bilsteins. The extra height and sharper angle of the cv's may cause some boots to tear and premature cv wear, but I'm not sure about the binding. RCX might just be trying to cover themselves in case something does go wrong. Smart on them. Hopefully somebody with that setup will chime in.

Youll be fine. Keep the coils and run bilsteins up front

As a matter of fact I was doing a live chat with spencer chase from RCX about a few things and this got mentioned last night. It's like they just released this change. I have the rear coils with a 1" top guns rear spacer and maxed out bilsteins up front and a slight rake. I would think with maxed bilsteins and just the 6" rcx rear lift using the springs still in the rear would be level. CV axles on my maxed bilsteins really isn't bad at all.

i have the rcx 4 in with procomp adjustable shocks set at 2.5 and my truck sits almost 2 in higher in the front. no poblems with cv angles or binding so I think you'll be good and very happy with the results of the bilstiens

Use bilsteins set at 1.4 setting with the RCX kit. I have seen that a BUNCH the past couple years. Never heard any issues with it. You want the back atleast .5"-.75" higher to avoid looking nose high.
