Rear Axle

Helping a friend look for a new rear axle that he exploded. What years came with disc brakes and were there differences? Oh and its a 1500.

I'm pretty sure all 2002 and up came with 4 wheel disc. Only differences staying within the 1500 series, minus the Mega Cab, would be what ratio it came from the factory with, but that can be swapped easy enough.

Also, is he 2wd or 4wd? If 4wd, then you need to make sure you get a rear axle wih the same gear ratio as the front.

Gear ratio is not of importance as he is buying new rear gears anyways. He is just wanting to know what years to look for.

I have no idea what year his is right now, he lives about 500 miles from me. I'm just helping him out looking in my area for him too. I want to say his is mid 2000s

Nothing like accurate info....

Any 2002 to 2008 1500 (except SRT-10) will interchange. These are all disk brake rears. Stay away from the Megacabs, they are 2500's in disguise (they use 8 lug running gear).

I know it was crappy info and I apologize. I did find out it is a 2005 1500 4x4 extended cab.

Then there you go, just be wary of any used axle you find, make sure the LSD clips haven't gone/started to go (and allowed gouging into the housing).
