rear end question

I have a 04 1500 hemi sport and i see videos and pictures all the time with the same truck being able to spin both tires during a burnout and i can only spin 1..Why is that?

You have an open differential. Not a limited slip differential.

Why would some hemi sports have a limited slip and some have an open?

That's how they came from the factory, it saves a little money. Though, it's a shame that they would do that...
I had 3.55 gears and an open diff, and I recently spent $2,200 to correct that.

It's a cost thing. Some people will never 4wheel the truck or drive it hard. So they offer a more base version of the trim level

^^^ True. But it makes a difference in traction even after a little rain with normal driving. One wheel traction, especially on trucks with the light rear ends, should be a crime.

alright i kind of figured it might have been a different model. It doesnt really bother me i dont plan on roasting the new tires i just got anyways

If it doesn't bother you than that's good. Personally, I got tired of roasting my tire half a city block before I got traction! Lol!

It cost me over 2k to get my rear switched out to a limited slip too. But with the supercharger it was barely driveable even on dry ground.
If traction isnt an issue i wouldnt worry about. An open end rear will last practically forever.

I am not a big fan of limited slip as to many times parts break, clutches wear out, or come apart taking out the bearings, and or the ring & pinion gears. I would rather have a Detroit Locker or leave it open carrier.

Traction control can be installed in your driveway with basic tools and does not require gears to be setup if you stick with your current gears. Traction can be a issue when adding power. Since you have a 03 check to see if the TMR mod has been done. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your new truck. 03's are special....
