Hey folks,
Wanted to post some thoughts on a product I bought and installed on my '04 ST 4.7L 5 speed long bed. I drive this truck about once per week, it has only 37,001 miles, for that reason I wasn't looking for the best product out there but I did want something that would improve brightness at night and in rain conditions especially. I restored the OEM lights a few months back using a Sylvania kit which usually does wonders but these were beyond restoring so I decided to replace.
I wanted something affordable that looked good along with some LEDs that wouldn't blind others in traffic. After posting in a different thread I arrived at these at the recommendation of a few very helpful members here. So, if you're looking for an affordable lens/LED setup, look no further, I think I found it.
Note, I haven't driven it in night yet so I'll post updates in the next few weeks. This post is just initial impressions on the quality of the products and ease of install.
Here are the products I got:
HEADLIGHTS $102, link below:
These look really great with the black housing. Matches my truck's black accents well without being too blingy. Fit is perfect. I was worried, I've bought many aftermarket headlights over the years and they often don't fit well.....I compared a new one installed to the old OEM, it fits perfectly. Some folks on Amazon reviews complained that these don't fit right. I suspect they didn't remove the female grommet on the inner area that helps secure the light. The light has a new one so you have to pop the old one out. It's snug and fits 100% correct. Good quality. We'll see how the adjustments work once I drive at night and use them. Others on Amazon complained that the turn signal receptacle doesn't interface with the bulb without modification but the ones I bought fit perfectly. Installed both sides in 15 minutes. I also like these because the rubber trim piece is longer than on the OEM light so it seals better when the hood closes, you just have to get a push fastener to hold it in, interestingly there are x3 OEM holes per side for this though the OEM light didn't use them, it only uses one hole.
Also of note the headlights come with halogen bulbs, which was nice, but I am using LEDs. If anyone reading this needs some new halogen bulbs holler at me I'll mail them to you for the cost of shipping.
See pics below.
LEDs $42, link below:
I'll post more after some driving. These fit perfectly and they look great. I've always had good luck with LED performance, what a difference. I like how these are Hi/Lo all in one bulb. More impressions to come.
