Getting ready to install a bed liner and was wondering if anybody had any luck with the DIY roll on type like Herculiner or the comparitive brands.

I can't justify spending all that money to have a shop do the spray in, so I'm going to do it myself. Just wondering what others might have used and any words of wisdom.

Thanks.

Pass on those they are not worth it they get tacky in the heat and also don't hold up my advise save up and get the professional one done you'll be much happier.Do a google search and you'll see all the problems people have with the diy roll ons

I have been debating doing this myself, they do come out good if you prep and sand well. But the sun and heat ruins them. Now I plan on getting a DIY bed liner, and then a bed cover.

Its all about what you use your bed for, if you want it to look nice 100% of the time, get a professional one. If you are going to be beating the bed up and stuff, and just dont really care, do it yourself and save. Im thinking about doing a raptor bed liner...

I used herculiner on my rocker panels and fender flares ... great ass stuff .

The key is PREP it VERY VERY well !!!

And get the bottle of UV sealer .... keeps it shiny like day one !

3 things you will need

I used a orbital sander to scuff the paint

Then you get this

Thanks for the great help so far.

I already have a bed cover for it, so the direct sun won't be a problem but I use it for everything so it is pretty scuffed up after a year.

Working in a dealership, I've seen quoite a few Herculiners and the results are mixed. I'm also thinking correct prep work is the key because the ones I've seen peeling haven't been scuffed underneath. The only down side I'm aware of is that the Herculiner isn't quite as thick as say a Rhinoliner that's been sprayed in.

I have always hated herculiner. Than I saw Dave's truck in person and it looked great. The prep is definitely the secret.

I've never seen Herculiner in person, but based off the pictures above I wouldn't be afraid of it.
