So the other day I had to slam on my brakes to avoid some water from all the flooding in my area and after I stood on the brakes the BRAKE light on the dash came on and the Serv 4wd came on. I drove the truck probably 50 miles since then and have had no issues but the lights. There are no engine lights but I took the negative off the battery and let it sit to try and reset everything and no luck. Anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried to cycle through the 4X4 modes? If you hit part of the water check the wiring harnesses going to the front axle and the transfer case maybe something dislodged? Without knowing a code that's causing the message it could just about anything, not sure if wheel speed sensors errors can cause this but it's a possibilities. Slamming on your brakes hitting a pudding of water is never a good idea, it can cause you to lose control just like driving through it or an unsuspecting driver behind you to plow into you.

I did not come into contact with the water. The reason I stood on the brakes is so I didnt hit the water. If you want to make this better and critic my driving even more I was actually in my prerunner and was hitting a jump when I saw the water and therefore had to slam on my breaks.

Why didn't you specify you were off-roading? Then who really cares what you do.
The way you described it sounded like a flooded street popped up suddenly. You know how many idiot driver's I see on a daily basis panic braking like you described only to cause an accident. That whole thinking if someone rear-ends you that they're at fault doesn't always apply.

I was not off roading. This was on a paved street but out in the country more or less. The water was over a hill. Even going normal speed people would have to brake rapidly if you did know about the water previously. The flooding in mid michigan is extreme right now and they are not able to put signs up on every road with water on it. Trust me I wasnt happy or glad to have to slam on the brakes like i did.

It could literally be anything. Go to your local parts store and they should be able to scan the truck and tell you what the codes are. Or you could disconnect the battery and try to hard reset the code out and see if it comes back on or if it's just a random gremlin.
