Sweet baby Jesus!!!

Is that for the headers alone or does it come with catted mids?

Got a part number?

Maybe Benny can get us a deal.

Hope this isn't looked at as thread Jack, but if so I will refrain and stick to topic! :)

That is for headers and 2 1/2" weldable exhaust connectors with o2 bungs. Part# P4510873

I think the cheapest I've seen in USD is around 1400.00, 1600+ on Amazon. Seems like they're everywhere, Summit/ Jegs. Gotta wonder what's going on because obviously no one is buying them?

The 2 1/2" midpipe is P4510872 and around 600.00

I already get a Smokin deal through Mopar Canada, but still 1300.00 CND + taxes.

Well, that was one of my earlier posts, that there is no Love for the owner who wants a mildly modded DD/ Tow vehicle.

Although 1 5/8" LT's are available through OBX/ Maximizer and a few other "off brand" Co's. Just for whatever reason (sales most likely) the more name brand start at 1 3/4" like you mentioned. Unless of course you go with shorty's.

Now being 3rd gen, I often Think in 3rd gen terms and forget that 4th gen are 390/407. That doesn't change my mind about 1 5/8 LT's being the best sized header for my stated purposes, but it does aid those who go 1 3/4" in being Closer to a more optimum operating range, Specially if they keep rest of exhaust conservative and have other bolt on mods.

Something else worth mentioning;

I've noticed many of the LT headers are not that long to be a tuned length. Surprisingly the Pacesetters seem like one of the longest LT headers for these trucks and with a decent looking collector. So even at 1 3/4", being say 6-8" longer than brand "X", you would see even more lower end TQ (below peak TQ rpm). Just run it with 2 1/2" Y-pipe and not too bad.

If Pacesetter made the same header in a 1 5/8" with 2 1/2" collector I would own a ceramic coated set right Now! ;)

Have you got a link to the OBX 1 5/8 long tubes?

You do realize you're in the 4th Gen section I hope, lol. Everything you are referring to, is for the older 3rd Gen trucks and won't fit a 4th Gen as far as I know. Not quite sure why you're on this 1 5/8's kick when there's no "off the shelf" 1 5/8's long tube headers available for the 09 to 18 trucks,at least by what I could dig up.If you have a part number to a set of 1 5/8's long tube headers for the later trucks, please post it,as i'm sure there's lots of guys interested in them.

No ones buying them because they cost an arm, leg, soul and 2nd born child ... for the headers alone. That and they’re for the 3rd Gen Rams and early LX platforms and Jeeps. They’re probably just sitting on a shelf in the hopes someone will buy them if they’re building a high performance Non-Eagle 5.7 HEMI.

You can also offset the effects of a bigger primary tube by wrapping the headers and keeping the heat and velocity up in the primaries, and if you really want to get carried away, you can wrap the exhaust system back to the muffler/mufflers if you really want to promote scanvenging with-in the system.Keeping the exhaust gases hot keeps them expanded which will offset a slightly big system.Wrapping the pipes will hurt the life expectancy of your muffler/mufflers some though.I get maybe 2 years out of my dual 18" Magnaflows before they get obnoxiously loud. My headers and exhaust are completely wrapped right to the mufflers, with the idea of the mufflers being a poor mans expansion chamber of sorts, lol

Adding on to that, you can also get them ceramic coated. Or double up and ceramic coat and wrap.

Yep, I know this is 4th gen territory, so not as crazy as I seem, just came in here because I like to check out the header threads and thought I might be able to help in this one. :)

I hadn't noticed the 4th gen OBX sizes, but Assumed (which one should Never do lol) that if they made 3-4 different sizes for the 3rd gen, they would do the same for 4th gen. Apparently Not, so yeah, kind of SOL on that one as I believe you are correct that 1 3/4" is the smallest off the shelf primary available.

I can only imagine that OBX is a copy cat and seems that people are buying the 1 7/8" 4th gen headers and running them with 3" Y-pipe which should be good too 8-900HP and 7500rpm on the 5.7! lol

So best 4th gens can do in an LT is go 1 3/4 but drop down to 2 1/2" Y-pipe in order to retain low end power.

Would be interesting to see the difference between that and 1 5/8" shorty's into same 2 1/2" Y. Obviously the LT's would take off up top, but idle to 3500rpm would be of interest. The shorty's having a lower peak TQ and then biased TQ into midrange, the LT's having slightly higher peak TQ but biased Below that TQ peak......

The ideal set-up would be a stepped header with equal length primaries, but unless you have money to burn on having a custom set of headers built we're pretty well stuck with what we have.I'm not even sure you can get a ready built bolt on mandrel bent 2.5" Y pipe, but I haven't really gone looking for a smaller Y pipe. Our best options as it stands is to try and keep as much heat in the system as possible which entails either ceramic coating them inside and out,or the better option of wrapping them.
GiJoe I do know of 3 trucks running around with ceramic coated and wrapped headers, but honestly I've never done that myself. On paper it sounds good, but makes a high priced set of headers almost gold plated in cost, lol.Charonblks headers are coated and wrapped, but I don't think he was overly impressed with the coating's life expectancy under the wrap.

And Charonblk07’s truck is ready to race not a dedicated daily driver like most of us. To be honest, I’m looking to do 1 3/4” ceramic coated LTs as cheap as I can find with a set of catted or catless mids and just “let er rip tater chip.”

Kurtis actually uses it as a daily driver,"when" it's running, but it does have the occasional long stretch of downtime, lol. He's only about 10 mins from me,so every once inawhile I get sucked into helping him,but then again he returns the favour when I need a hand myself, lol. We did my cam swap in his heated shop last winter,as he's got a really nice shop in his backyard.

That’s nice.

He suckered me into making my oil filter relocation kit “prettier” by using AN fittings and braided hose. Cost me as much for the “cool factor/pretty parts” as the TransDapt 1127 does by itself ... but......... it does look cool (even if you can’t see I).

Thanks @charonblk07 SMH :emotions122:

Well, now I'm confused.... LTs vs shortys vs size of mid pipe vs.... I'd love to get more low end and eco and would rather not get a tune.

@GIJoe201 - I'm in NE Cola.

Got the JBA's install. So far so good.
How long does the 'burn off' smell last on these typically?

Cool, any difference in power or anything? Any pics?
The sound is a little deeper, definitely or throttle response/HP. Not a major change which I knew about, but that damn ticking noise is gone thank god. I will let you all know how it is once I get my custom tune done. :)

Did you do the heat cycle break in for the ceramic coating? Fire it up and idle only, full warm. Then shut down and let cool off completely and repeat? Then light normal stop and go driving, shut it down, cool off completely ect?

If you do the heat cycle break in by the time you test full throttle there should be little to no "burn off" left.

Did you keep rest of exhaust stock or?

I did not... just drove it off from the shop. And yes full stock exhaust for now.

Cool, so the more heat cycles from full warm to full cool the faster the ceramic will cure and no more smell.

Also keep in mind, while the 1 5/8" pipes will retain stock like or better low end Tork, your greatest gain will still be mid to top end because it's a Shorty header.

Further exhaust mods, depending on what's done can = greater gains as well.

Once ceramic is full cure do a cpl full throttle pulls and tell us how she feels :)
