I have a 2013 RAM V8 Hemi, 140K miles on it. last 9 months it shudders at low RPM's like 1000 or 1500 under stress like going up a slight incline. (with or without tow mode). Once it shifts to lower gear it is fine... at like 1800 RPM's and higher...

I had my local mechanical look at it, he was worried about intake issues and wanted me to take it to RAM to check for software updates.

RAM dealer heard it had 140K and I wasn't sure when the last time plugs were changed... only had this truck 1.5 years... so they blamed it on the plugs.

I replaced the plugs and still have issues.

thoughts on the issue? Anybody seen this?

intake issues?
fuel filter issues?
torque converter issues?

My 2011 does the same thing going from 4th into 5th under a slight load or incline. Acts like the trans can't decide what gear it wants to be in. I think it's in the tranny on mine. Fluid looks and smells ok but going to do a complete fluid and filter change. ATF+4 ain't cheap though and it takes 16 quarts so will be a while before I can afford it. BTW, 114000,miles on mine and just did plugs, cold air intake, headers and superchips program. Did it before any of that and still does it.

I’m going with the latter guess, TC. I have personal experience with the 2011 545RFE and the TC shudder! Trans blew and the thing was, it was shuddering over a year and a half. I through in Lucas Trans additive. I hear you should try Lubegard shudder fix. My trans is rebuilt and shifts pretty good now.

Mine started with a 3” Body Lift and stretched cooler lines that started seeping little to my knowledge. Only after the trans started slipping I noticed the seep. To late as the trans was damaged. Lasted me almost 1.5 years and Lucus slip additive before she blew.
She’s going good now though after the rebuild. Upgrading the TC with a Circle D TC.

I drove in tow haul for the first 8 years I owned my truck only to avoid low rpm shudder, and it worked. Changed the fluid to redline c+, and the shudder stopped so don't have to use TH, but I still like it. Hard to believe so I don't say it much, one oil kills ticks and eliminates my trans shudder, but it is true.

I'd run codes, it is possible what you are taking for shudder is actually a mis fire. When you get the cam issue it usually shows up first at idle and low rpm's. Most guys describe it as running rough, but I would say it could be described as a shudder.

I have the 545, and like I said changing to that fluid took away low rpm shudder I would get in 3 and 4 gear. Yes, redline c+ is great for rfe, maybe not as good for 8 speeds, just use oem or lifeguard for 8 speeds. d6 has similar viscosity as oem 8 speed, but I think some guys like the pao based oem.

Hemis have a known issue for eating the camshafts bc of a lifter that shat the bed. If yours ticks loudly, i’d suspect that

Has anybody tried BG ATC Plus? I like BG's products I use the 44K and MOA/EPR products. I just wonder if I should try putting ATC Plus in and see if it helps with the shutter?
