FCA shoulda hired guys like Ernie, instead the hired focus groups that decided to pipe in frequences to overcome the noise, instead of doing it Ernie's way! Good Job, well done, proper work right there.

I like what he was trying to do there, but that was painful to watch lol. Deff needs to work on his narrative and camera skills lol.
If any vertical surface of my truck (rear wall) ever gets over 200 degrees, it is because the truck is on fire, and I will have bigger problems than what type of goo is under my carpet. As far as the horizontal surfaces go (floor pan), if it does get a little soft, it is not going to slide unless I do a -2g stop (a 60 to 0 deceleration in under 1 second), in which case I have been in a severe head on collision, and again, have bigger issues than what is under my carpet lol.
Just trying to humorous there, not making light of your point. I do get your point, and I will do the "Namebrand" stuff on the ares that count.
It is rather boring, but it was interesting to see what all the different ones react. Although, the one's that stuck on permanently are scary. lol

I don't think it's ever going to come off. lol

LOL, IKR? In all seriousness, it didn't look like there was any "Perfect" product, just varying degrees of performance. The higher dollar stuff did do better in some areas, the cheaper stuff better in others. My intention was never to mislead anyone into thinking I had done a "perfect" or "professional" job. I simply wanted everyone to see what a low buck job looked like, what it cost, and how it performed. I'm just a country boy in south east Texas working in a muddy yard with a tight budget. If money and time were no object (hell if I just had a little shop space somewhere), believe you me, things would be a lot different lol.

My intentions are sincere. I'm not here to belittle you or make you look like a fool, just merely showing you some of the potential problems you could encounter in the future with the bad stuff. To each their own and I understand that we all have a budget that we try and adhere by. So please don't take anything I've posted or replied to in any kind of condescending manner. Just trying to help a fellow RAM owner not ruin his nice truck. ;) Only chebby and furd fools do that. lol

I think Id be more worried about the asphalt odor than melting and slipping.

I used Dynamat on my 2000 Accord and it definitely made a difference, but places like Sound Deadener Showdown didn't exist back then (or at least I didnt know about them!) so Im sure I could have done better.

Im debating doing this on my RAM with all SDS products. Its expensive, though.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I just found out that SDS shut his doors. I guess he retired. :/ Now off to look for a different brand. Maybe dynamat it is. lol

The Dynamat came off pretty easy on the peel contest, but held on in the slide. Since I won't be pulling on this stuff After I get installed, I think it should be fine for the doors. I will check the pricing on the competitors though.

I did look at the "truck" package on SDS, and wayyyy out of my league.

I wish I could give this a thumbs down! I knew I should have ordered a few months ago :(

I was looking at Luxury Liner as well, they make a product that was two of the SDS products integrated to each other. More expensive, but saved a step.

I talked to the owner of SDS a bit via email last year and he did mention that RAMs in general were pretty well vibration proofed from the factory. A little help here and there with the CLD tiles, but overall the bigger gains would be the other 2 steps.

I mainly concerned with my doors, tbh. I think if I get those deadened and dampened, she'll be fairly quiet. I don't want to spend a ton on it. OTOH, have you read up or checked out Knukonceptz Kolossus? I've read it's pretty good stuff. What about NVX from Sonic Electronix? I've read good stuff about them as well.

I have not...thanks for the suggestions!

At least SDS website is still there. We can apply their knowledge even with other products. i.e. I dont need enough of any other product to 100% cover the truck, can get away with some of those 1.75 sq ft pieces inside the doors, etc.

I'm not going 100% coverage. The return of cost doesn't work for me. 25% coverage should be sufficient enough. Luckily, I took the measurements SDS has on his site to get an "idea" of how much I'll need. ;)

I did notice some bitumen applied at the factory. Also, the rear most portion of the cab, from the back wall to the storage bins, is made of 1/2lb per ft MLV with a cotton jute backing. The carpet in the remainder of the truck has a 5/8" to 3/4" layer of closed cell foam (CCF) adhered to the back. The most attention paid to sound and insulation from the factory that I have ever seen in a vehicle minus the "Luxury" brands.

So here is a cost comparison of some of the more known brands. A person could use the video of the performance of various products balanced against the cost per square foot in my table and go from there to make their buying decisions.

Price is one thing but I want to mimick what SDS was doing...CLD, closed cell foam decoupler, mass loaded vinyl.

Noico might be an OK alternative to the CLD layer but we still need CCF and MLV.

That is what I did in my truck. Butyl/Foil/Foam/MLV/Foam
