So my 99 1500 4wd has had a transfer case problem for a while, and finally got it fixed. I knew it was cracked from a visual inspection but didn't know the extent of the damage. Worn out driveshaft u-joints caused vibration that caused the failure so at least it won't happen again. Pulled an NP231D HD out of a Durango at pull a part for $80, and only paid $267 for it to be swapped out, electronic diff lock switch from Durango changed to the Ram vacuum lock and boom I'm back in business! Also had to change the front output shaft from the Durango to the flat disc the Ram uses. Hard to find a good transmission shop that will do extensive work but damn sure glad I did! All other shops would only do a drop in rebuilt replacement at damn near $1800! Screw that!
