Just had my Ram aligned after my lift install. Think I would have to have another alignment after installing the Zone arms? I would assume they wouldnt change anything or am I wrong?

Mine was out a bit on my 1500 with 6" RCX and 2.1 Bilsteins. You might not notice or care but I can't handle knowing my stuff isn't perfect

my mechanic doesnt understand why it would need an alignment, if the UCAs are all you changed, but Zone recommends it in the install instructions.

Now, FWIW, I believe the instructions are for their kit that includes the spacers as well, but i didnt do my initial alignment yet since installing the spacers (i knew i was getting the UCA's so i figured id wait to be sure).

You should be fine I believe you don't need an alignment with these trucks unless the lower arm is messed with. I've removed upper arms and didn't notice a change in my alignment

No I think this is only an issue with the 13&14 models. Might want to research it tho

Bilsteins still in the box...

Hi Guys
Thanks for all the great info!
May I ask if these heavy duty upper control arms will
restrict our choice of tire size? Perhaps needing to run a narrower
tire?
Many Thanks Again :whymewhyme:

PS Zone Offroad Upper Control Arms ordered 3/31/14.

Hey guys I was wondering if I need to worry about the ball joints popping on my 2012 sport with the Rancho loaded quick lifts. It sounds like it is only on the 2013 and up Rams. Just for some peace of mind, do I have anything to worry about? Thanks guys for all the great info!!

To all the people asking if it happens with brand A B or C. It is height dependant, which causes poor ball joint geometry. It has nothing to do with brand or spacer/strut lifts

So what height does is happen exactly? Theres 2" with problems and 2.5s that dont..?? It seems random.. hbs and bilstein have done it. Im still tryin to find someone with rancho quicklift and has problems tho.... would the zone uca guaranteed fix everyone levels problem? Was it just the late 2013s and 14s? My 2013 was made November of 2012 and has a 2" hbs for a year now and still perfect.. frustrating aint it?

Thanks for clearing that up War Machine!! The other question is then: Is this ONLY happening on 2013 and 2014 trucks. Has anybody heard about any 2012's having this problem? Thanks in advance!!

Well, has anyone had an issue with a 1 or 1.5 inch leveling kit? Is it just the 2 and 2.5 inch kits?
Also, it may have been covered, but is this a 4x4 issue only? Have there been any reported problems with any 4x2's?

Check the top of the upper ball joint closest to the tire to see if the lip is raised out of the control arm. Everyone I have looked at is doing it.

yea I checked mine out the other day and its normal. but like I said, im still on the OEM 20" wheel and tires.

im wondering if a 0 or - offset along with wider tires is the cause of the added stress on the ball joint?

anyone had this issue with OEM tire/wheels?

I would like to know what the difference between the '09-'12 and the '13-'14 upper arms are ? Looking up upper arms for '09-'12 on line, they are about $115 each, cheaper than the 'zone' arms and if the balljoints are not coming out of the older arms why not use them on the newer trucks ? Yes, I have a '14 with a 2" level and my balljoints are coming out of the arms.

Look at the visual difference. The zone ones will give you better clearance and look more durable as well.

I think the 2.5's that don't have issues are early build models such as yours

very good question, the early build 13's with no issues to me are obviously using the same as the 12's, I could be wrong but it would make sense, and I cant really see them making a drastic change like that half way through a model year, I could see on a next years model, again could be wrong, dumber things have been done, for what its worth icon list their UCA for 09-current, and another note if they do fit likely dodge will be selling the new style as replacements

There 3 big manufacturers have been making half model year trucks all the time. Chevy and gmc done it in 07 with major changes in body and suspension. A guy I work with has an 07 old body style as its listed in most parts places has to always tell them that or he runs a great risk of getting the wrong parts.
