Its tune up time. My problem is I want mopar plugs. No one has them and they appear to be on back order until December. Dodge wants an arm and a leg for them. My options are Champion, NGK, Denzo and Autolite. Denzo is expensive at 15 dollars a plug. Champion is 8 dollars and NGK 11 and Autolite is Autolite cheap. What should I run. I am having to bounce between summit for the transmission fluid and filter change, brakes, and Denzo boots if it really needs them. I was going to do it out of precaution, but does it need it? Truck runs flawlessly. No Check engine lights and no tick thats the big thing lol. I need to get it done asap. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The NGK 92145 Laser Iridium plugs (if they are suitable for your hemi, seems like I remember reading that the laser iridiums started being used in '13 or '14, with upgraded coils) are $6.13 ea. at RockAuto.

Great plugs, they are what I used in my '15. They are pre-gapped and the electrodes are very tiny, be careful if you decide to check them. 100k mile change interval, my originals were only worn maybe .005 max when I changed them at 106k miles.

I could be completely wrong (and probably am) about them not being suitable for your Ram, so hopefully somebody else can post about that.

I believe the 2012 uses the copper plugs like my 2010 which is NGK 92174. I see a set of 16 on ebay for $64 + free shipping which is where I got my last set.

Another vote for NGK. They are the OEM plug for Hemi's now. If it's a stock truck and you have copper plugs, get copper again. The upgraded plugs won't give you that much of a boost over the coppers.

So your hemi takes the 30k mile copper plugs, but last time you used iridium? Without upgrading coils? Not my area, but don't those iridiums run hotter and can harm the coils made for the copper?

The Rockauto site covers Spark Plugs better than anyone else
go to the site, fill in your vehicle info
Then scroll down to Ignition

I believe that your Ram left the Assembly Plant with NGK plugs

Rockauto lists your vehicle under RAM, years up to 2011 are listed under DODGE

If you are looking for MOPAR plug #
Look under NGK
The Mopar # will be the same, only you prefix it with SP, ( Spark Plug )

If you want the OEM part

NGK 92174 {#05149177AB, LZFR5C11, SPLZFR5C11} Standard
Dual Plug; Gap 0.044"; Actual FCA OE NICKEL plug (30,000 mi/48,000 km interval). NOTE: FCA OES now recommends IRIDIUM extended service plug.

The reason that you were not able to find the proper spark plug at a store, is that the stores list them under
NGK 92174 is the number on the box of 8
LZFR5C11 is the number on the spark plug

That is unless i have it backwards, old age does that to a person

I ended up with iridium NGK plugs. That’s all I could get in 16. What new spec says. Dodge did it last time. So spec. No luck with Delphi boots. They sold the last set. Looks like I’ll leave them alone or have to settle for car quest premium. My main goal is 2 of my 5 boys. They were in a moderate car wreck with their grandpa today coming home and they are not doing real well. They are home, but I bet we end up in the ER. I didn’t even think about Taylor or a race wire. Well looks like I’m going back there. I honestly wish I had just went to summit on Thursday. I would have been closer for my boys. I couldn’t get through the traffic fast enough.

When I go to Rockauto to check on plugs for my 2012 Hemi they say NOTE: FCA OES now recommends IRIDIUM extended service plug. That's what I put in mine 10,000 miles ago with no problems so far. I don't want to change plugs every 30,000 miles.

Good to know that Iridium plugs are recommended.

If you don't already have one, get the Gearwrench 80546 magnetic swivel spark plug tool - about $12 on amazon. Makes life easier for sure.

Plenty of refreshments helps also.

Hopefully next week or the week following I will slap the NGK Iridum plugs in. I was told they might throw a CEL light. We shall see.

So far they haven't on mine in 10,000 miles.
I was told by a mechanic I trust that some of them throw codes. He thinks its because of the way it ignites. Not sure, but that is something to keep in mind if you switch to NGK.
