Looking to replace all my speakers in my 2012 with the basic radio. Down the road I may change the hu but not now. I see guys putting 6x9 in the front door but when I go online or to a shop they say they don't fit I know depth is a factor. Not really interested in doing much modifications

everybody will give there 0.02 but here is mine

Ive been a through and through kenwood fan (Ive owned differnt brands over the years to) kenwood excelon 6.5" component sets are what i find is the best. you can make a template to hold the speaker and the tweeter in the door, or just purchase the adapters (more fun to make)

I had some trouble finding 6 x 9s that fit the front doors. I eventually got some jbl 300 watt max 150 rms that fit perfectly in the front doors. I put some kickers I had bought in the back doors.

I just bought these from reading about them from other folks. You can find them for about $100. Suppose to be no fitment problems.
Alpine Electronics of America, Inc.

I'm also putting JL Audio 3.5 in the dash. I've read replacing just the speakers makes a pretty good improvement, but for me I've got to have some more power. I find myself with the volume turned all the way up all the time right now. Check out Techronics. I had never heard of them till I did a google search on an Alpine 5 channel amp. It saved me $100.

Another member's write up.

Px8 have u installed those spr6x9 or just ordered em. I have read that post a while back but when I actually spoke to someone at crutch field they insist they don't fit. Sonic electronix has them for 109 at this time and its a hell of a price vs 200 at crutchfield.

Those should fit without spacers. Just need to take the rubber off the magnet.

I'm debating on those Alpine Type R's PX8 mentioned or Infinity Kappa speakers. My brother in law swapped all the door speakers on their suburban with Infinity KAppa's and got 2 12's in the back. man oh man is the sound so clear! I might just go Infinity idk.

Believe or not back in 02 the Ram Sports came with an Infinity system. It didn't have a sub though.

I wrote the writeup on the Alpines. They along with the JBL's mentioned are the only true 6x9's that will fit with no problems (as far as I know). Crutchfield prefers us RAM owners to do the 6.5" swaps. I ran Kicker DS 6.5's with brackets for several months and was content with the results. The swap to the Alpine's had much better results. I got the wiring harnesses from Crutchfield and the Alpines from Sonic. They're simply plug n play.

Couldn't agree more. I really don't understand why their prices are so high. My local shop will beat Crutchfields prices install!!! I went the sonic/techronics route to save even more money. Still unsure about Techronics, but everything I bought from them is being shipped out.

On my 2013 believe it or not I did have issues with getting the alpine 6x9's in the back.....Still not really sure what the issue was. I don't know if they were hitting the bracket in the back or if the opening wasn't wide enough for them to slide in. The second is what I think was going on. I put a 5mm bit on my electric drill though and tighten them down and it seemed to be ok. Didn't have any issues at all on the front and I spliced into the factory wires and put connectors on them.

True that Crutchfield is often higher than many others. However, when you purchase from them, you know you are buying from an "authorized" dealer, and all manufacturer warranties will apply. This is not the case with every brand fron Sonic, Woofersetc, ebay, etc. Watch for Crutchfield clearance sales, etc. I recently picked up the Polk DXI 3.5s for the dash -- on sale for $29.99 shipped to my door -- with wiring harness. This was much cheaper than elsewhere.

Nice, yeah clearance stuff is still 100X better than the 15watt max speakers that come on the basic stereo system. Plus, who can possibly hear the difference from last years model compared to this years. All my alpine stuff from techtronics looks very ligit. Packaging was amazing actually.
