Inside of the rim perpendicular to the bead a small crack formed. Dealership says not likely to be covered by Chrysler. Tires fine and wheel is still round. Definitely was not impact or negligence on my part or I would just take my lumps.

Happen to anyone else?

This is why i only wash mine a few times a year and never detail it. If i dont know about it then i cant worry about it. How did you find the crack?

Had a slow leak, so put on spare, and ran it in to the tire shop, and they found the crack before they took tire off. Sent the pictures to the service manager, he is going to send them to the district manager. He wanted me to bring the truck in, but 100km away, and the wife needs it for her work(delivers mail) right now.

Damn, that sucks... Gonna be hard pressed to prove that's not caused by impact though...

Is it just dirty, or has the rim been scraped against something? It likes like curb rash when rim is rubbed against a curb except it is on the inside surface. If something was straddled that was high enough to hit the rim I imagine it could cause a crack like that.

Ya I hear ya, but not much to impact on the wife's mail run and the tires are fine. Even if she hit a curb or something, you would think a rim on a 4x4 could handle that. I work in the towing and recovery business, I have had new sports hit big rocks that slid off the mountain have their lower control arm etc ripped off from the force and still hold air lol.

Back in 2010 I had a Dodge Caliber and we hit a gouge in the road, destroyed the tire and bent the aluminum wheel. It didn't crack, and we sent it off to be repaired and was fine. Still see that car around town and Rim is still holding up.

Definitely not rash, just dirty I imagine, the only other damage I found were the odd rock chip.

That looks more like a repeated load cycle crack to me. Which shouldn't happen, unless there was a casting void or something.

A good wheel repair shop can weld that up and balance it you wont even know it was repaired. I dont think it would be guaranteed but you can try!

That's crazy you didn't hit anything to cause that. It's like you are on 24s or something.
I would just get a new rim

or better time for some new rims.

I don't see any bends, dents or obvious impact points. I would demand a new rim under warranty as its a safety issue and they can't prove it was caused by an impact. Could be a flaw in the aluminum or manufacturing process.

Tried to respond last night but forums were down for me.

So Dodge dealer says that chrysler has declined warranty coverage. Being that we are so far from the dealer not much I can do here. I am having the rim fixed myself, and have a line on a set of take offs if needed in the future.

The wife needs the truck for work and no place in town to rent a vehicle, so would have to drive 100 miles to rent a vehicle to push the issue with dodge.

I have bought a lot of new Dodge vehicles in the last 8 or so years, and haven't had to use my warranty yet, aside from some recalls, so kind of disappointed right now that this is the service we get in Canada. We have no Magnuson Moss act so they don't really have to prove anything to deny warranty like they do in the states.

Not covering the wheel will likely cost them more than the wheel in the long run though, I am asked everyday what vehicle I recommend because we tow for all the new vehicle roadsides. So I see it all. I usually recommend Dodge, but now will probably be GM as I do see fewer major breakdowns with both dodge and GM.

Aluminum wheels crack all the time. You are not the only one. Ive personally seen it on stock f150 wheels (~2011) and a f350 (~2007) and numerous small imports, usually with aftermarket wheels. Stock wheels are almost always repairable where aftermarket one go in the scrap bin.
It sucks that the dealer wont cover it but honestly, at least with the state of our war torn roads in kebecistan, i dont blame them. Maybe you have really nice roads in bc but i doubt it.

Anyways, all that to say i dont go around telling people not to buy fords because the wheels crack. I give them other reasons :roflsquared:

And you just said you have never been to the dealer for other than scheduled recalls in 8 years . Thats what we call pretty damn good. Im not sure you can do better elsewere but you are welcome to try :favorites13:

No I tell people not to buy ford's because of all the ecoboost f150 we tow with knocking bottom ends lol. One not so long ago with 3500 on the odo. Last week had one with 65k odo.

Might be easier for me to just say not to deal with that dodge dealership. I do love my truck but the network of dealers around here are horrible.

I don't know for sure, but it kinda looks to me like there is bit of a flatish spot to the right of the crack. You probably couldn't know for sure unless you spun it on a lathe or a wheel balancer and dial indicated it for runout, but it looks "less round" to me.
