This is my first HD truck and it will need tires soon. I don’t off-road but tow a 36 foot camper.
I’m looking for something a little more aggressive than stock, but not an AT tire.
I’m toying with the idea of finding some used 20’ wheels.

6 months to a year, I plan on a Thuren 2’ level kit and possible some fender flares.

What do y’all suggest with this in mind?

18" wheels and Tires will give you a softer ride with more sidewall. Nitto, Cooper, Toyo all offer good tires in what your looking for. Check out Tire size .com. If you want to fill out your wheel wells 34 or 35" is a good choice. I have the 2" ThuPXL_20201008_183031357.jpg ren front coils and you would still have some rake if you keep the Rear stock coils.

I agree with ^^^Mr. McPherson^^^ on 18's with a bit wider and taller tire.

I installed a 2" level spacer on my 2500 with some nice wheels and Nitto Terra Grappler 35x12.50R18 tires. The ride improved quite a bit with around 55psi cold in the tires vs. the stocker RSA hockey pucks that were on the truck.

Hiya @G. Mcpherson :)

Will the 35x12.5x18 fit on the stock wheels?
I don’t like chrome so I would get some black wheels to accommodate the different tires.

I went with Nitto dura grapplers, they are a great road tire. Wear like iron so far on my dually.

Based on several previous posts from those who tow, Michelin makes a couple of highly rated street friendly LT tires (LTX or something like that) look up the their site for specific tires...

I would go with at least a 9" wide wheel.

Good luck trying to find a 9" wheel with the proper offset/backspacing. Method and maybe one or two other companies make wheels with close to stock spacing. Otherwise everything else I see advertised seems to stick out a mile.

What is the correct offset/backspacing?
I’m not looking for the go kart look but don’t mind the tires sticking out a little bit.

FYI, one of the worst things about a wider wheel track (besides safety) is not being able to use automatic car washes anymore. Would drive me nuts.

You can find a wheel in 20" that is +18 to + 21. Either of these would stick out from the fender about 3/4 to 1". Backspace would be 5 1/2 to 5 3/4". There are a lot of Photos to look at how this would look . Use Google for pics.

FYI, you have the wrong bolt pattern listed there. But does look like they have the correct 8x6.5 bolt pattern available as well.

When I had my Suburban K1500, I ran nothing but General HT and always had good performance from them. Ran on the stock 16 inch alloy wheels. Looked at Michelin LTs, but never got around to them b/c of price point.

Michelin Defender LTX M/S LRE all the way. Great tire now on my 2nd vehicle with them. Stock 18" tire size is fine for towing.
