I hope this wasn't a "One and Done" post.

I'm very interested in what the dealer and Stellantis says about this.

Hopefully, this is a one off incident. I think we would have heard by now if not, but, you never know if manufacturing or sourcing of the part has changed or not.

In addition to photos, and lots of them, ask the dealer for the old parts. My guess is, Stellantis will want to get them back to inspect them. But ask anyway!

Hope you’re wrong, but looks like it might be one and done.

I do wish the OP would at least come back and give an update.

Scanning the internet for a forum to post a problem, then disappear, is not the best way to go.

Whatever the cause, there are a lot of people here with that year truck that would like an answer to what and how it broke....parts fault or an earlier impact.

They're far from "trash." There's a guy who does a Youtube video that put this myth to bed. Took him two grinding wheels to cut through the high strength steel.

You may want to look that up again, but this time from a reputable source that knows what they are talking about.
I did look it up before I posted here. But looking at the part, there seems to be alot more plastic than steel. You want to look up the exact steel/plastic makeup? Most likely alot more plastic than steel. Looking at the bottom of the part, theres an awful lot of plastic honeycomb than steel.

So what's the implication? That what's visible determines structural strength? How accurate is just looking at the part in determining how much steel is underneath the plastic? Even if there is more plastic visible, so what? It does not qualify as a serious analysis of the strength of the component.

Saying it's made of plastic is disingenuous and became a thing for clicks online. If you're going by what you're seeing looking at the exterior alone, then humans are made of skin and hair.

It's a steel part coated with plastic and it's been the same since 2018. How many failures are we seeing? Or the aluminum UCAs that are in very common use? It's not a highly stressed part like the LCA. What exact percentages are polymer vs steel I don't know and don't care enough to go full Archimedes to try and figure out.

That break in the knuckle makes it look like pot metal.

Definately needs reported to NHTSA. Scary stuff.
