No one use the tried & true chalk method anymore?
Empty load = front heavier than rear.
I run 40 in the front & 35 in the rear unless loaded or towing.
I use the old wet puddle trick, especially when i'm installing a new set of drag radials, probably not as good as the old chalk test, but easier, lol.

Same. Water is near enough for anything I'm going to do these days, and for real world use the contact patch is just one of many factors.

If you ever want to get more precise, block printing ink and a small roller is by far easier than chalk. It's easier to see, and it's much more even and repeatable. You basically *are* block printing, just with a big round rubber "block". The guy who showed me used newspaper (yes, it's been awhile, newspaper was easier to come by. :D), but I've used squares of cardboard cut out of boxes or posterboard. I will note he said to only use water based unless you enjoy a mess. I trusted him on the matter and have never tried the oil based.

Ive got toyo wlt1s and ive never been more impressed with a winter tires performance. I want to try something else but im afraid to accidently get something worse lol
Fair point.

While I have no experience with that specific Toyo tire, I have had several Toyo makes (summer and winter) on previous vehicles and they were excellent.

However, I can confidently say to you that the Blizzak DM-V2 is a serious winter tire that is worth their cost, and you would not be disappointed with its performance!

I was considering those and michelin x-ice snow but decided on the toyos and man ive experienced various cooper winter tires which i loved or thought i loved, winterforces, and other all terrains i cant remember the names of, and when i ran the toyo wlt1s my world was turned upside down and i immediately downgraded my opinion on all other winter tires ive used. I do want to try something else out next though but im years away from that

I'm of the adage now in my life that once I find something that works very well and satisfies my need for quality and dependability, I don't tend to deviate. There's really no need to once you get set in your ways and know how the product you're familiar with operates in every situation.

The Michelin X-Ice are great tires!
However, for a truck I don't find them to bite as hard and track as well as others do (like the Toyo's and Blizzak's).
They are fantastic on my Lady's Ridgeline though and it pulls like a freight train in deep snow and slush.

It's like they're only decent on a AWD vehicle.
You'd be better off with the Firestone Winterforce tires for the 300.
Yea i'm not ever buying them again,as they're about the worst winter tires i've ever had for stopping on ice,and not really great for chewing through snow either

If you're wanting some great tires for the 300, look at the Blizzak DM-V2's or perhaps the Toyo's or the Winterforce.

Dude tried like 8 products then boroscoped, lol. best part, totally worked. There are some cool threads at bobs, less then stupid posts, but pick and choose is ok.

I looked at it just for...fun? All the usual sniping and hatred, and they didn't even see that Chevron dropped PEA in Techron, replaced with the cheaper and less effective buta-whatever back when (we discussed on here).

What a distressing site. Anyway, we know Red Line Sl-1 and CRC make real PEA cleaners and PEA is the most effective engine deposit cleaner there is because it works at elevated temps (also used as detergent additive from the fuel pumps).

I bought a bore scope. Rick sez it is likely too big for plug holes, but it's cheap enough I can get another if I get so motivated. I definitely would have 20 years back, but this one has a whole bunch of LEDS in the end so I can inspect my Harley compensator ramp surface for smearing without draining the oil and taking the 100 screw off the cover.

I think i said i hoped it would fit in the plug holes, lol
The first one i bought was to big to fit,and i think it had a 8 or 10mm head,i forget now,but i ended up returning it and picking up one with a 5mm head

Well, come on down and inspect the compensator ramp surface with me when winter gets you down. The way things are going, I expect our two nations to be more friendly soon anyway.

Anyone have any advice on changing from 5w20 to a 5w30. I ran 4 OCI 20000 kms of valvoline restore and protect. Im thi king of going to valvoline 5w20 advanced w/max life for high mileage. Im at 260000 kms now on the original engine and Im in Canada. What would the benefits of switching to 5w30 provide ?
