It's not green which is the real fiasco. What happens when you burn anything except water? GPF take a harmless particle and coverts into a gas after the gpf burns it. A gas which the greenies said was a greenhouse gas only after the 2012 administration I wont mention the name, said it was. It's not like an oil filter, it doesn't capture it and put it back in the ground where it came from harmlessly, instead it burns it. Not directing this to any individual, just agreeing with Brian's point here. I am missing the point here other then Jay Pan, the only thing that makes sense is that they need auto dealership sales as a serious tax pool. Goal = the 50k miles engine, or more to the point, the 50k miles vehicle because the cost to fix exceeds the value of the vehicle. It's a rather bad joke they literally steal the value of our vehicles with this scheme. And the cost to the planet is a never ending cycle of mass production of vehicles when vehicles that last a 1/2 million miles would have been the better green goal?
Create an engine that produces more particulates, in order to give up 20 HP in order to burn said particulates, and say it is for the planet? Never a thought to the main issue with these engines, they have to be kept in pristine condition to operate. The GPF does nothing to advance that fact, it doesn't clean the engine or the air.
