Has anyone even checked to see if the bypass filters are synthetic fiber? This is what they say for their RP clone filters...

Proper oil flow is essential to keeping engine parts lubricated at all times. AMSOIL Ea Oil Filters' synthetic fibers are smaller than the fibers used in traditional filters, allowing Ea Oil Filters to provide lower restriction. During cold-temperature warm-up periods, an Ea Oil Filter allows the oil to flow through the filter more easily than a typical cellulose filter does. Lower restriction decreases engine wear.

But their bypass filters do not mention if they are spun micro glass. I have to tell you that would be some really shady garbage if they aren't. 60 bucks for paper filter? here is their pdf, pretty stupid to not use synthetic fiber or at least let us know if it is synthetic fiber?

not a word about synthetic media, wtf?

Higher Efficiency AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filters have an absolute efficiency of 98.7 percent at two microns. This highly efficient filter provides exceptional filtration performance, removing all the particles known to reduce engine life. Superior Construction AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filters have a marine powder-coated exterior and a zinc-dichromate base plate to provide excellent corrosion protection. Ea Bypass Filters feature a nitrile HNBR gasket, an orange silicone anti-drain valve and proprietary high-efficiency media. Filter Service Intervals Ea Bypass Filters offer long service life. Do not exceed the limits listed in the chart below. Increased Oil Capacity The increased fluid system capacity and filtration life provides improved oil cooling and ensures that equipment constantly runs on highly filtered oil. Engine efficiency is increased, providing extended engine life. Soot Removal AMSOIL has designed a high-efficiency bypass filter element that is also a soot removal device. AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filters use proprietary high-efficiency media. This media removes soot particles two microns and larger, eliminating abrasive wear from soot agglomeration. Bypass Filtration Benefits • Efficient small-particle and soot removal • Equipment constantly runs on clean oil • Increased engine efficiency • Can significantly extend engine life • Increased filtration capacity and life • Improved oil cooling • Increased fluid system capacity • Dramatically extended drain intervals

How much are those filters?

Catch the name on this filter kit? they named it after Syn.

Derailer kits are only 38 bucks, and you can add as many filters as you feel you want, just buy another kit, and better yet you can use factory filters instead of paying 50 dollars for a filter.

Every time you buy filters for a Amsoil bypass kit, you can have paid for an entire redline oil change, lol. That is 7 qrts plus a RP filter, same cost as two amsoil bypass filters.

7 qrts redline 70 bucks, add a rp filter 15 bucks tops = 85 bucks.

Amsoil bypass filters (not the kits) cheapest 40 bucks for the small ones which nobody would use (defeats the purpose) and 60 bucks for the large filters. 2 large amsoil filters = 120 bucks, what?

Considering how well the RP did in the filter thread test, I'm not sure I would bother with a bypass filter, but if I was I would get a derailer and buy two kits and still run double RP filters as opposed to paying 120 bucks for 2 filters, that seams crazy to me. Now if I had money to burn, then maybe it wouldn't matter so much, but you are looking at a 200 dollar oil change and that is dyi price.

just posting another option Sinister, don't vote me outta here.

Fake news. I don't know where you're getting the prices from, or why anyone would buy anything from Amsoil at full retail price to begin with. That's like buying from Harbor Freight without a 25% off coupon. The full filter kit made for that truck is $300. Not universal. There are 4 different filters, ranging from $30 to $44 and can last from 60k to 120k miles. The smallest filter increases system capacity by 1 quart of oil, and the largest by 4 quarts.

"They draw approximately 10 percent of the oil sump's capacity at any one time and trap the extremely small, wear-causing contaminants that full-flow filters can't remove. AMSOIL Ea Bypass Filters typically filter all of the oil in the system several times an hour, so the engine continuously receives analytically clean oil."

"AMSOIL has designed a high-efficiency bypass filter element that is also a soot removal device. The media removes soot particles two microns and larger, eliminating abrasive wear from soot agglomeration." You don't need a double bypass filter with this kit, because you still use your full-flow filter. The Amsoil full-flow for the Cummins is a very large filter. I helped my buddy change his two weeks ago.

An Amsoil SS oil change would be $92.85 (12 Qts) + $15.85 (filter) = $108.70 (PC Price, which will cost you $20/yr) Even if you had a bypass system with an extra quart or two, plus a bypass filter, you're looking at around $150.
I'm no mathematician, but that's nowhere near a $200 DIY oil change. Oh, and it's cheaper than Redline by more than $20. That conveniently pays for your yearly PC subscription and a 6 pack to celebrate.

WHAT A JOKE? Found this off a jobbers site, Amsoil bypass filters aren't even full synthetic, common man?

Superior Construction

The superior construction of AMSOIL EaBP Filters provides better sealing and increased longevity along with superior corrosion resistance. AMSOIL EaBP Filters have a marine powder coated exterior; and their zinc-dichromate base plates increase rust protection. EaBP Filters have a nitrile HNBR gasket and an orange silicone anti-drain valve. The two stage pleated and layered cellulose/full synthetic media has an efficiency rating of 98.7 percent at two microns.

Oh yes if you pay to be a member you get some kind of discount, I was going off posted prices, go figure?

I would bet dime to donuts a standard RP filter would kick Amsoil's paper bypass filters ass in a long run, lol. Wow, 60 bucks a filter and they don't even use the same technology as in their consumer line. you can't make this stuff up folks...

Yes, it is a layered paper design. It filters down to 2 microns, not 20. It only filters a very small amount at a time vs the full flow. Different media for different purposes. Here's a vid. Amsoil Bypass Filter Torn Open

I'm no mathematician, but this is a literal joke 400 hundred dollars and 60 dollar filters to refill.

Paper down to 2 microns till it blows, if you think paper lasts 2 years like they say, I have swamp land to sell you cheap. Cut one open after a year, I will give you 100 dollars if it isn't stiff as a board. After seeing oil filter test, no way that filters to 2 microns, LOL LOL LOL

Watch your personal attacks, this is not about you or me. I encourage anyone to do your own research, use what I posted as a jumping off point. Any amount of cellulose is less then as in a big < in a filter, especially one supposed to last 2 years. Heat cycles ruins the binder in cellulose fiber filters.

If you take that as a personal attack, you should educate yourself to prove me wrong instead of spreading a bunch of nonsense about something you obviously know nothing about. What a joke.

A level minded person who liked what Amsoil does as a company might suggest in this one area they are behind the 8 ball and maybe they will fix that lower quality filter at some point. At one point Amsoil bypass was the best a guy could get, it just so happens the field has caught up and should force Amsoil to step up their game, especially for the insane amount of money they want for a simple butt plate and some tubing, lol.

When redline does something against the grain I call them out, try that some time in the amsoil camp. Gives you more credibility then fighting for a weak point, paper filters suck ass.

But we know why Amsoil does this in their bypass, cost plus monopoly. In the past if you wanted a bypass they were it. But now that derailer is killing it, you can get a bypass kit for 1/10 of what amsoil costs and use factory filters at 1/3 the cost, and actually have better filtered oil. Again, I encourage anyone who hasn't read the filter thread. Personal attacks doesn't change that synthetic media is better then paper in every way except cost.

I'm just curious, you really want to compare Redline and Amsoil, lol? I think you probably don't, but if you need to me to discuss quality of the two companies I could probably muster up something.

I don't really care what you think of Amsoil as a company or their bypass filter system. We all know you wouldn't use the bypass system for 2 reasons. #1, it says Amsoil, #2, you won't even spend $40 to get an OCC, so there's no chance in hell you're gonna get a bypass oil system. You are all too willing to pass judgement on something you've never used.

Way wrong answer, I installed one in my Brothers work truck in 1996 and for the longest time knew it was the best option available. In 1996 it was the best option bar none. But it aint 1996 anymore. It just so happens that companies imitate greatness and they have looked at the Amsoil bypass and improved upon it. Made it more reasonable to run and now otc filters are as good as they are, see oil filter thread. Plus don't over freaking charge for a butt plate 400 dollars, lol. I would absolutely use anything that said Amsoil if it was a quality product. It just so happens as of lately, there are some holes in SOME of their product lines as pointed out. That should be what this thread is about, scrutinize the product being discussed. But Amsoil boys get so butt hurt over a conversation, you can't have one.

I agree with both of you. The Amsoil filter DO filter down to 2micron and filter MUCH slower.

I do not like that they are paper. I do not like the ridiculous price. There is nothing special about the filter materials to make them cost that much.

I agree that a 2 filter setup is better but also think that its a very pricy product for what you get out of it. If I bought it would be only because I had the spare money and I would not extend my oil change is much further I would just find peace of mind and having super clean oil all the time.

To each his own and im looking forward to hearing from syn and his UOA program with this system. Super excited that we have this on our thread now.

I think Cummins no longer recommends them, I would research that before putting an Amsoil bypass kit on and low oil pressure. Like I say, before you buy this look up low oil pressure and Amsoil bypass kit and decide for yourself.

amsoil bypass low oil pressure About 35,100,000,000 results
