I would stick with fleetguard stratapore filters based on the few hundred thousand miles I have put on my past 5.9 Cummins.

Syn, I didn't read did you say those are factory. From Cummins...

Oil Filtration Oil Filter Design, Use, and Function  Maximum engine life is dependent on the correct use and maintenance of full flow, bypass, or combination lubricating oil filters that protect vital engine components from the abrasive contaminant, which are held in suspension in the lubricating oil. Cummins Inc. requires the use of full flow filters on all of its engine models. In addition, except for the B Series model, all turbocharged Cummins® engines must use bypass filtration. Bypass filtration is strongly recommended for use on all naturally aspirated engines.  The flow filter will remove contaminant particles of 30 microns and larger that are suspended in the engine oil. Particles of this size can cause immediate bearing damage.  The bypass filter (or filter section if using a combination filter) receives approximately 10 percent of the total pump output and filters it to remove smaller particles, down to 10 microns, which the full flow filter does not capture. This maintains the oil contaminant concentration at a level low enough to prevent engine wear.  Cummins® engines are fitted at the factory with a quality Fleetguard® combination lubricating oil filter, which contains both a full flow and bypass filter in one filter can. Many of them are a Venturi™ design which directs all of the oil to vital engine parts, instead of returning a portion of it to the pan. These filters provide the optimum balance o

.. well, it’s official… according to an auto mechanic my family friend trusts, I have a manifold leak on the right side. So that has been causing my Cold “tick “ this entire time I believe. Apparently there still leak after warms up but I couldn’t really hear it. Now it’s time to see if the dealer will say the same thing and warranty the work. A dealer won’t have a problem with a cold air intake will they?

Funny how they reccomended a 15W40 in a brand new engine that is not MPG rated by the EPA. Wonder what they would reccomended if it was

nice find, and in the Cummins service bulletin I just provided they do recommend PAO and/or group 3, and in 15w40.

That brand however says not for use in 2007 and newer.

I wonder if it just doesnt have the most up to date “certifications”. I really wouldnt worry about it if that was the case. But i would probobly use redline over anything else anyway.

I know, party pooper. But its the truth.

That is an interesting filter if it is the one that is part bypass, part full flow. How much do those run? I mean as opposed to paying 60 bucks per filter that is 1.2 cellulose anyhow.

OH SNAP, 100% synthetic filter, huntergreen goes all bad ass on the syn thread.

here cummins filters

Guys that is something new, polymeric filter not glass not paper, but rather polymeric and seams like a second nano sheet, I think the nano sheet may be similar to spun microglass?

Guys watch the two video's on that link, the second one shows the single filter is part bypass part full flow, 100% synthetic media. No reason to get a bypass filtration that can leave you with low oil pressure, and w/o a lot of money at 400 dollars for a plate and tubes. Cummins already made this most likely because bypass systems were giving the Cummins low oil pressure. Problem solved!!

30 bucks on ebay.

63BD5D75-2CDF-4D5F-87F6-75B894DA5594.jpeg Thanks for all the questions & small talk about the by-pass kit.
No use getting too fired up!

Like I posted: Around the 25K mile mark, I will either install one or not.
I have A lot of time & miles to travel before that time comes.

I honestly feel the Fleetguard Stratapore/Royal Purple Filters will do a more then outstanding job. The need for a by-pass unit might be way overkill.
From what I have read this motor has more of a problem with Fuel dilution compared to soot.

It would be interesting to find out if this Very Popular Stratapore filter was created with synthetic media.

Right now I’m focused on oil selection & fuel Additives & towing mods.

I did Burla: Thanks for posting that!
Just ordered 2 more filters from Amazon.

I just received a message from a Rotella T6 5W-40 rep claiming this oil was Not produced at this time with the GTL Process but part PAO/Group 3.
There are no plans of making this oil into CK-4/SN so I’m set with my Oil choice.

It would be nice to be able to run those fleet guards on a hemi, full flow but a portion is bypassed and eventually filters to way low microns, plus of course no paper. Doubt it would fit, but that may just be better then the RP.

I was looking hard core for the past 45 min for one. I got nothin.

I did find this interesting filter though. There is a lot if hogwash and ********* at the first 90%of the page but at the bottom they clame
99% at 10 micron
98% at 8micron
95% at 5 micron

That bold clams for a full flow filter.

This website is sketchy looking though
