Ok, you must connect those. That is the HVAC control for your truck. You will plug the red into gray. No restart necessary.

I will but I noted the car connector has five pins while the adapter has 4 any idea which of the car ones should stay out?

You shouldn't need to re-pin/de-pin anything. Does that make red plug not fit into the grey female connection?

The red plug is a little wider not by much just 1.5 mm but the male pins don't fall on the female position by 1 mm or so. In order to plug it I'll have to slit the sides and move the red plug sideways to connect it. The problem is that I don't know which side to move it . It would be very helpful to know what color on grey needs to connect with what color wire on red plug. I only need one reference. Does that make any sense?

Ok, sounds like the adapter you have is the wrong one. Let me dig up my radio and I'll look at the connectors again instead of doing this from memory. I have both adapters so I should see what you're talking about.

Here's what my dilemma is ...sorry for the caveman level drawing. Should the black wire on grey plug connect to the 1st or 2nd green orange wire on the red plug . an equal way to ask would be should the red wire connect to the green/violet (1st wire on the other side of the red plug) or to the green wire (2nd wire on the red plug)

Did you have an 8.4 upgrade in your truck previously by chance?

Also, in looking at this picture, these both look like connections on the truck side and not the radio...is this correct (both the red and grey harness are coming from the truck)?

No the red one is from the truck the grey one is the harness that goes in the radio in the white connector near the wider white one in the first pic. The second pic shows the radio side connector (grey) how I receive it (cut the bottom), the last pic shows the harness with the grey connector being connected to the radio)

Got it. Unplug the small white one with the gray adapter, you won't need that. The long white one next to it is your HVAC connection. The red one is for another module on your radio, it plugs in right next to this gray plug on the factory bezel.

After that is done, I want you to use Ram Mid as your vehicle type.5b04b3c97e055c7d60d7081d406d6f3d.jpg

I plugged the red one in what appears to be an empty slot (a holder); put the radio on Ram American (I only have Ram Lo/Ram Hi/Ram American/Ram Top) the protocol on chyang* with Bagu ...and no joy. The controls are still dead.

Any chance someone has an adapter plug for 7 speed fan they would want to sell? I sold my unit and customer wants to return it because his ac not working, I can only assume it's because he has a wire unplugged (he's said as much) and it's likely because it doesn't fit the adapter included (mine was 4 speed fan). If anyone has one or can point me to one would save some headache. Thanks

Lol, I think I'm helping your buyer now. Where did you buy it from and what was the factory radio in your truck?

Did you reboot the radio after choosing Ram American? If not do so.

Black plug with blue wire was going into the AC block same as the white plug near the empty slot. If I pull any of the two plugs the AC stops.
