At least it's not leakin'....Just sayin'......2009 TRX 4 Ram OEM third bray light won't turn off!
Just the third brake light everything else works properly.Welcome to the forum!
Is it the brake light or cargo light that will not turn off?
Do the rear brake lights turn off?
I stand corrected, removed the brake switch. Key off third brake light on. Key on rear brake lights also on. Can hear a click under dash but can't see anything. I'm also old and don't move too well. LolJust the third brake light everything else works properly.
Why would there be constant power to third light?Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn’t the brake light switch work off of ground?
I tried to look one up on NAPA's web site and all it shows is the TIPM and a bunch of connectors and switches. Yikes! I've been reading that that can cause some seriously bad stuff to happen! The third brake light, like the rest of lights on the vehicle are controlled by the BCM.
Considering the BCM/TIPM pretty much controls just about everything in the vehicle, they can cause some pretty good headaches trying to resolveI've been reading that that can cause some seriously bad stuff to happen!
OP make sure all your doors are shut, happened to me the other night.
Before you installed the replacement TIPM, did you discharge it?Even though I replaced the brake peddle switch, I'm going back with a VOM and see if there's a problem there as well as recheck the fuses.
No I didn't know that , thanks! I'll try it. I picked up a code scanner and am getting 5 ABS codes and 2 SRS codes. I did put the old TIPM back in since that wasn't the original problem. I had also removed the Brake light relay in the fender well and re-installed it. The codes I'm getting are: SRS-U1414-00, U1415-OO; ABS-C-1000, UD102,C2206,C1090, and U0141.. i'll try your suggestion and see if it helps. Before you installed the replacement TIPM, did you discharge it?
There are some capacitive devices in most of the older TIPMs and installing a used one, in particular, could cause erroneous signal issues.
With the battery electrical connectors (positive & negative) from the vehicle disconnected, short the two battery cables together for 15 minutes. It's worth a try.
