Was the truck new when you bought it or did you buy it used? It looks like someone got into that harness to grab access to one of the wires. Perhaps for a brake controller? Or a CB?

Whatever is zip tied to it is probably what the spliced in. That smooth black casing is very typical of aftermarket wire harnesses.

Could be a GPS tracker. Did they try to sell you one or did the finance company require one? Lots of dealers are starting to put GPS trackers in all of their vehicles and are trying to sell you the system. They will still leave it in even if you don't buy it. Could be something along those lines.

I would 2nd GPS. I found one in my truck (used) and the dealer claims no knowledge of it. They blame it on original seller and original owner. Here in Illinois they have to tell you there is a God tracker though, otherwise it's illegal. Not sure about other states. Though many places consider his location to be PII so it is required to identify it at the time of sale.

Even if they had to troubleshoot something on the line, that's not how a repair would've been done at the factory. The first clue is the white cable tie.

OMG. I'm hooked. I gotta know. Please post the answer after you question the stealer about this hack. Talk about shady stuff. I'm kind of leaning toward the GPS thing.

The paranoid me is going to look for GPS trackers (1 used financed, 1 new financed, 1 paid off) in the 3 cars in my driveway tomorrow.
But I am sure it was something innocent --- but dun dun dun - we will see
