Throttle Body Upgrade

Lets talk throttle bodies. That will be my next mod, plan to spring for one in the next 3-4 weeks. Which one are you running and why did you choose that particular one. I know some are running the Moe’s, some run the Fastman as well as the BBK and possibly others. Give the pros and cons, positives and negatives. Some say the throttle bodies doesn’t add much if anything at all. Let’s hear some opinions.

BBK Hellcat you Running the 90mm

Moe's is ported, Fastman is bored. I went with fastman as it is bored and wanted a true bigger TB

I’m definitely leaning towards the Fastman 84mm. Seems to be one most talked about.

cool I will have to google that one. Although I believe a 92mm is much to big for my current setup of mods. I think I need to stay around 84mm with just bolt ons and tune.

To be honest, I installed the moes ported not a true 87mm throttle body, and didn't notice anything.
Spend your money on something else, like long tube headers.

Moe’s is still an 80mm at the butterfly, just opened entrance to 84 and 87 backside for Venturi improvement.

Doesn’t mill the shaft either like Fastman, it is not a simple process like tossing the carb in a programmed lathe to inside bar bore.

I ordered it about a week ago. Fastman said it will ship sometime this week. Hopefully I will have it by Friday.

Thanks I actually ordered the Fastman 82mm should receive this week sometime. I currently have JBA Longtubes and Jay Greene 93 octane tune.

How about the hell cat one? Curious how the mmx adapter is working out

You're only going to see gains as you adjust the tune with this upgrade.

I recommend it being one of the last bolt-ons that would especially benefit from an aftermarket camshaft.

I can say my Hellcat TB behaves like stock in the effect that Jay got it to idle and drive like normal on the first try.

I will just have to do some data logging and send it to Jay and have him make adjustments. Looking forward to get it on and see how she responds.

No dyno sheets have been posted, so any power increase would come from the tune. For the price, a ported not true 87mm tb is just not worth the money.
If I had a cam, I would install the hellcat TB, then get a custom tune.

MMX adapter is solid. My only gripe is they don't drill for the locating tabs on the stock intake manifold. Nothing a utility tool can fix but for $190 bucks it would have been nice. Hopefully they'll get this feed back and make it better for future customers. I opted for the 90mm opening tapered to 85mm which matches the stock intake manifold opening nicely!

If Jay has dialed in this TB to be good daily-driver mannered I may go this route for future boost. Usually the problem with significantly oversized throttle bodies is tuning during idle/partial throttle.
