too heavy?

so ive been looking at aftermarket front bumpers aka iron cross and road armor and have been told that they are too heavy for our trucks to the point of breaking frames anyone have input? mine is a 00 reg cab short bed 1500 4x4

That's a first for me. I know they're too heavy for these trucks on stock SUSPENSION, but that's the first I've heard about the frames. Unless they're talking about impacts with the bumper on, in which case it'll mess up a 2500 frame too, since the frames are similar between the trucks.

Oh you're talking about the refrigerator bumpers. It would be a lot cheaper just finding a refrigerator and strapping it to your truck. It would look just as good.

In seriousness. Yeah they're heavy, but I doubt you'll have issues with the frame. There was a guy on another forum that got in an accident with one and didn't have any issues with his frame. I don't know how much they weigh, but I assume like 150-200lbs. You might have to put stiffer springs up front.

well im looking in to atleast going to a 3/4 ton coil if not a lift and worst id hit out here would be a deer....
