So within the last year I sold my old 2007 RAM and got a 2012 RAM 5.7 which has been a great truck so far. Recently I took a trip down to the Texas coast and on my way back I realized my truck was struggling to start sometimes. It's been doing it for about a month now, I've replaced the spark plugs, the starter, cleaned the throttle body, it had a fuel pump relay bypass on it when I got it, and I can hear the fuel pump running when I turn it on. I've also installed an aftermarket remote start that works fine, I've removed that to see if it caused it which didn't change anything. When it starts it runs just fine, but it won't throw any codes that I've been able to pull so far. The video shows what it does. Anyone on here have any ideas as to what could be happening with it?

Just a guess at this point but I would say cam or crank sensor but need a scanner to watch for signal on both during starting. I am leaning towards a crank sensor a cam sensor will not normally cause no start or delayed start but a crank sensor would

I know you said you can hear the fuel pump running but have you checked to verify that you have the proper fuel pressure? I suspect the check valve or regulator in the pump is bleeding off fuel pressure causing the extended crank. Get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what you have.

With the ignition in the run position you should have 58psi +/- 3psi. Once the engine is running.you should have the same 58psi. Then, shut the engine down and watch the fuel pressure gauge and see if the pressure begins to fall. If so, time for a new pump.

This may not have anything to do with your current problem

I was looking at the battery
It may be over due for replacement & it looks like it the wrong size & series

That is a nice International Tractor, i bet it has A/C & all

Well after messing around a lot with the fuel lines from engine to tank I ended up replacing the vapor canister purge valve which seems to have done the trick. Only time will tell, but it hasn't hesitated once today since I changed that out. Before it would hesitate just about every start up. Thanks for the input for things to check on folks. Though GTyankee, I'm not sure what you're on about.

Was it acting like the fuel pump is going bad??
