If Ur hooking hitch to hitch the lifted truck. It'll always make ur **** end lighter. I'm thinking it'll be close to even because of the tires vs ur smaller engine. But he's also got supporting mods and you said pull in mud or snow so having 35s it's a mud tire on it so moneys on the 5.7 truck. No replacement for displacement.

I would think 5.7 also but I'm thinking gears may help .. his 5.7 is high mileage like 120 something so possible it's tired lol I have 63k on 4.7 still thinking 5.7 takes the W

Yep. in mud or snow power won't be much of a factor. All about who can get the power to the ground. Way back around 1990 I had a 1979 GMC Sierra 1/2 ton. I built the 350 myself and it was just a mild street build, maybe 300-325 HP. Had 3.73's with BF Goodrich A/T's 31x10 or something like that. Had limited slip too. A big mouth I knew had a ~ 1976 F250 with a 460, bigger tires, lift, manual trans, etc. We hooked in very wet dirt and at first we both pretty much sat and spun. His truck started to bounce and he had to shove the clutch in. That was the end of that. I shut his big trap quick.

Sure his truck had more power, better tires for conditions, and looked meaner. I'd bet 90% of betting people would have put money on his truck. I had no idea I would win but didn't think he would embarrass me like he thought he would. In the end I embarrassed him. Oh, and I tried to get him to do it on dry pavement but he said he was afraid of breaking parts. I told him I wasn't afraid of breaking anything so I may have psyched him out a little.

In your scenario, whoever can get the best traction will probably win. Think of this...a 1000 HP race car with racing slicks drag racing a stock Dodge Dart. Oh, and it's raining out.

Whoever can get the most traction will win Tires or 4x4 vs 4x2. The power between the trucks wont have that big of factor since the gearing is different.

What about the weight difference between the two trucks? The V-8 would have the advantage there.

Traction & hp goes to Truck #1. Cubic Inches wins in the big end.

Keep in mind, matches are won or lost by the driver, usually in the first second or 2 in a tug match. Gotta maintain traction to move fwd.

I do think the 5.7 would win but I also think he had a heavy foot and I think he'll gun it on the word go which would make him spin and I'm thinking if I can control wheel spin and keep traction would be the deciding factor
