Uconnect 8.4 & 8.4an update - 17.11.07

Most icons are movable however the Uconnect Apps icon is not and will always be in the middle.

Well that sucks you can't move that icon. I too have no use for it. If I don't have update my radio (so far knock on wood), I won't be doing any updates unless RAM/UConnect changes that stupidity.

speaking of updates, have your app software engineers created an update for the uconnnect app on my iphone? I am getting tired of hitting the home button on my phone when in the truck and having the ucconnect app being there front and center......

So we are stuck with apps in the middle, sure would be nice that since we are stuck with it that we get an app that is useful, like maybe Apple Car Play, we keep hearing the same song and dance year after year and now it's available on limited models, why not all?

Morning all!
Haven't read this entire thread but got an update notice on my 8.4an screen so selected the install option. The blue bar Never goes away even after leaving the ignition on for hours, or while driving. I still get radio, xm, etc. but a blank screen with the blue bar.

When I shut the truck off overnight the standard screen comes back but then the install initializes again and then gets stuck on the blank screen/blue bar and Never finishes.

Any hints to get this thing straightened out?

Is your truck out in the open with a clear view of the sky??? I think someone else had that problem and it was because of poor signal linking to the radio.

Your the first person from IA I've seen post about the update so I guess I'll start keeping an eye out for mine.

Yep, its been in completely wide open spaces, I selected the download maybe Saturday sometime and have left the key in for hours at a time and have driven a couple 40 minute trips without shutting the truck down in between return legs, so its cycled probably 6-7 times by now but has yet to complete the install.

Even if I shut the truck down and turn the key back to 'on' without opening the door, the electronics stay on. I'll pull my valet key and lock the truck with the fob in the ign go in to my office and come out hours later and its still incomplete.

Typically if it has been shut off for several hours or overnight I'll find the old screen back to its normal self but within minutes it'll re-initiate the update, presumably because I selected 'yes' once and its trying to complete it.

XM reception has never been an issue for me unless I'm in a parking ramp, under a tree or under an overpass so I can't imagine its the reception. I think the 8.4an is just stuck...

Plugging in a USB with the firmware or unplugging one that is currently plugged in May get it to advance with a failure message.

I have noticed 1 bug in the latest software that is kind of annoying.. My radio preset list always defaults to the first row of presets (1-6) even if the current station im listening to is on the second row list (7-12). Prior to the update, the radio left my visible presets on whatever list it was on when I shut the truck off.

Also.. tell your software peoples to add android auto and apple car play to 2013 - 2017 radios.. the excuse that the hardware is not capable does not fly with those of us that know what these radios can do.. Ford was able to do it with their older radios. Support your customers else they wont be your customers anymore.

I did an update last weekend and now when I play my music through the thumbdrive, it plays the songs in alphabetical order instead of the album order. Not really liking it much.
Any one know how to remedy this by not resetting back to default?

Configuring Auto Play means you will be able to select whether a device you have plugged in via USB plays immediately when you insert it/turn on your vehicle or not. It is different from Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. At this time Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are only available on the 2017 Challenger, Charger, 300 and redesigned Jeep Compass.

The Over the Air update is currently being rolled out regionally across the United States, unfortunately we don't have a schedule/ETA of when it will reach certain areas and/or vehicles. Our tentative completion date to have the update released to all qualifying vehicles is August 2017 but this subject to change.
