Anybody have this problem with the Uconnect service? I cannot renew online. I have a 2016 Rebel and every year, usually after it expires, I have to call and renew the service. If I try to renew online it tells me I have to call. It is very frustrating. Now I can't pay yearly I have to pay monthly. Which of course costs more. Today they told me the service is changing in January and they won't do yearly subscriptions until after then.

Kind of sounds like SiriusXM. Those people are hard to deal with too.

But curious, what functions do you like/use enough on Uconnect that keep you renewing?

I think I got the half-price deal last year. I wonder if I can do that again this year. Its amazing when you tell'em you love the service and only want certain features.

amazing, they don't even want to take your money. I was not impressed with the service and it's overpriced for what it does.
Well, if you look at just one part. I could really do without the emergency part but I guess it is kinda nice if I get incapacitated in an accident or being able to push the SOS button in an emergency but all the rest of its become quite useful.

You need to read a bit better, I never said the services weren't useful, provided they work in a timely manner. Just UConnect charges too much for how little it does, if you can get it for half of the regular price of $150 it's sorta reasonable.
As for the 911 button, it works even without an active UConnect subscription. Federal law mandates that it has to call 911 even without an active subscription, same goes for any mobile phone.

Not sure about US. But in Canada, SiriusXM doesn't let you 'cancel' online either. You have call them.
They do that so they can try to convince you not cancel. I would guess it's same to extend it, try to upsell you.

I use to cancel the radio on my cars/trucks. They would offer 1/2 off. I would say no. Then they would email/call me and offer it for 1/3 or less.

Now I just use Amazon prime music. I wouldn't pay $5 for SiriusXM Guardian, that app and service sucks.

I currently pay 50% for Sirius XM
They cut some stations like Nascar

I first called them to renew, i did not care what i paid
Just at that time, i drove by a T Mobile repeater & my radio went silent
The radio came back on & drove about 1/2 block & the radio went silent again.
I hung up & went home to use my computer
T Mobile runs at almost the identical frequency as Sirius XM
so their repeaters cut out the radio.
My town is full of T Mobile repeaters, because i live in a valley

.............................................................................
Do cell towers interfere with XM radio?

Previously, both companies said that the interference problem is caused by a radio signal phenomenon called “intermodulation.” Two different T-Mobile tower frequencies are colliding, thereby creating a third frequency. It is this third radio frequency signal that produces interference on SiriusXM radios. Jan 24, 2017

FCC is aware of this

===================================

So i called SiriusXM & asked them what the heck they were doing about it
Even the Main office in New York denies that there is a issue, when speaking to customers

My reading ability is just fine based on the given information at the time. You just now said the services were still considered useful but before you didn't say anything about being useful and only spoke negative of it by saying the services weren't impressive and that they were overpriced for what little your opinion says it does.

But yeah, I guess the remote functions- lock, unlock, remote start, ect., could work a little faster but think about it, depending on the service, signal strength of your phone and where you're at, the command has quite a ways to travel once it leaves your phone before it gets back to your vehicle so don't expect it to be as quick as hitting the button on your fob.

My only gripe other than the full price of over $300 a year if they won't work with ya, is how they have the plans structured. It's like they know which are the most popular features but they make the to where you practically have to buy all of it just to get what you want.

But, ya know, there's no point in arguing, I like the service, I do use it and I do find it useful so if you don't, that's cool.

And I guess I didn't know about the SOS button being federally mandated because I assumed it was just a voluntary feature because I didn't think the non-Uconnect trucks, or I guess the ones that didn't come with the big screens- older body-style or new, didn't have the built-in cellular capabilities. I thought it was only the big 12" and 8.4" screens that had the ability to provide wifi internet to the passengers and update their own firmware over the air.

Sirius XM Guardian and Sirius/XM Radio are to different things. We're talking about the Uconnect services.

If we're talking about the radio services now, I just turned mine off not too long ago because I just don't use it. 60 bucks every 2 or three months is just too much for something used very little.

All of the above is why: I do not Have active U connect/Sirius Guardian/XM/HD/911. I got me just a plain jane 8.4 screen Non Nav 4 Radio. No over the air updates, or ne of that stuff. Just the "built" in "U" connect functions required for radio to Work, truck functions to work and Sirius XM to work. BTW, I neva pay Sirius charges like they want: I renew every Year, full access. for $124, includes taxes, get 1/3 price. I caught on years ago to their give U the cheap rate, and then automatically renew and charge yer card at 3 times the price. The first time they do not let me get the 1/3rd price, goodbye. I only pay the yearly amount because I like having the Sirius across multiple platforms, works for me.

And I tada, neva have to worry about receiving OTA update BS from U-Connect and bricking my radio.

ADDED: I can have my "U Connect" updated at dealer. last time truck was there, I asked my SA about the TSB for the radio and he said: unless having trouble leave it alone as the update even from dealer via TSB was bricking radios,. I got a great Dealership SA.

I was considering going to T-Mobile ref internet service. SINCE they just got hacked for like 54 millions PPL and info, ahhhh, no TY.

BOIRD neva pay SIRIUS 50% price, only 33% (which U have to pay all at once). Further, I get the full access package, tho NASCAR and NBA does nothing for dis BOIRD. Just MLB and NFL and maybe Hockey once a year, LOL. See post #16.

That’s most certainly weird because unless somehow the Uconnect services in the app that you get from Sirius/XM Guardian are somehow tied together with the built-in cellular phone- I wouldn't know this because I’ve paid for the Uconnect app every year so far that I’ve had the truck but to my knowledge, you have to pay extra if you want to use the built in WiFi… are you saying my truck wouldn’t update itself over the air if I didn’t have the active Uconnect subscription?

Which, by the way, I don’t know who’s having bricked radios from OTA updates because the only troubles I’ve heard of from updating your radio’s firmware is from when people try to do it via flash drive. My radio has auto-updated itself probably four or five times now it’s yet to do anything out of the ordinary.

I am not sure wat U R asking. U Connect is integral, built into the radio systems with all the truk stuff, I just have a Non Nav 4 radio, so I do not have any of the Guardian/XM/911/SOS services, (maybe I am confused, but I's a BOIRD), or any OTA updates/etc. I get no updates, and I cannot even connect my Apple Carplay w/o a cable where other PPL with higher radios can using wi-fi/bluetooth. Have a Bighorn, and plain radio, LOL. Heck, I do not even have the buttons in the upper console or on the mirror ref 911/sos etc. Not built in. As far as wireless, I do not have, just a plain jane 4 radio. FWIW, I got an I Phone 11 thru AT & T, so ne wireless I want to do I do through Phone. But then I got to scramble it through my Mobile App VPN, and sometimes connections not go through my VPN< LOL. There are even some car dealerships and other sites I go to on this PC that will not connect when I run my VPN. But I almost neva use Wi-Fi on the phone, except through my Home Network needed for I Phone update. I use Cellular Data for all stuff, WI-FI too unsecure, I NEVA EVER use Public Access WI-FI. Just wat dis BOIRD does and works for me.

Unknown, see my post # 19. I had an 2015 ED with NAV and U-connect, so the MY 19 I got is plain jane, not got all the extra bling ref radio's. Phone do everything I need to do.
