Hello all. Am needing assistance. Bought new 2024 Ram 2500 Laramie. Have had 2 uncontrolled automatic full throttle accelerations while sitting completely stopped. First happened September 15, 2025 and pushed me into an intersection - all while I had my foot continually on the brake. Called and took immediately to dealer. They tested and said ‘it didn’t throw a code”. I said it still redlined and systematically kept pushing me. They kept for couple days and replaced the throttle body. Thought was fixed and Dec 5, 2025 happened again. (Pulled to the shoulder to recheck my route before entering the interstate.) While sitting still it again redlined and started pushing me down the embankment. I flipped it to park and shut it off. Immediately called dealer and took it back in. Same response. They said it hadn’t thrown a code so nothing they could do and I needed to contact Ram. I’ve been trying but making little progress. Keep calling the customer service number dealership gave me. Get assigned a case number, and ‘case specialist’ supposed to call me back in 1 business day; and no response. Also filed with Nat’l Traffic Safety Admin but heard nothing back.

I’m really concerned it will happen again - happened twice in less than 90 days. Been so lucky was not in heavy traffic, or on the move first two times. If I’m hauling cattle or equipment it could be catastrophic. Any information greatly appreciated. Thank you.

That's crazy, hope you get this resolved before it causes an injury or worse.

Harry - I would put my cell phone in a holder mounted on the front seat facing forward and pointed at the dash and the front window. I would have it on continuous video record anytime I was driving. One it gives you proof of what is happening and two, if you do end up in an accident you have a defence and action against Stellantis.

I would be insisting the selling dealer give me a new PU to drive while they figure out what is wrong with this one. Hope they get this sorted.

Does not sound like the throttle body at all. The throttle body can do nothing without a command from the controller. I would guess a software issue, but could be a faulty controller or PCM. I would think they would also look at the peddle position sensor, as it could also be faulty, and the cheapest to replace.

Just to clarify your profile states the engine as 6.7 but you also have Hemi after that. Is the truck gas or diesel?

Also let's mention @RamCares to see if they can help

So this could be a few things but this is a situation where its very much worth your time and money to invest in a dash cam setup and have one aimed at your feet so if it does this again there is no debate. They can easily make the argument that you did it with 2 feet.

Personally, I would not be driving it - if the dealership would not come thru with a loaner, I'd be at Rent a Wreck or similar. As risky a situation as Russian Roulette IMHO! Wishing you a quick resolution.

Thank you all SO much. Great suggestions & help. The level of non concern to all I talk to is mind blowing. I’ve started documenting all and will get a camera - sadly that won’t prevent someone getting hurt; or likely worse.
Don't be scared to pick up a phone and call the phone number Doc posted, going right to the top usually gets you quicker results.

A surprising number of these sorts of things are caused by floor mats getting on top of the pedal somehow. There's even been recalls over some factory floor mats because of it. If you haven't checked that as a possibility, I'd do that before looking at anything else.

Also, mentally prepare yourself to shift it into neutral if it goes runaway. It's the only way to stop it since the motor will overwhelm the brakes very easily.

You have been lucky twice - this is a little like still carrying an original 320! Three times might be the "charm". Maybe I'm too cautious in my old age...

I would be speaking to a lawyer about sending the dealership an official notification.
They have been advised and will be held accountable.
Maybe cc to Tim K and his assistant.

I agree with the poster who suggested parking it and renting.
Sorry for your grief, such BS that the dealership didn't do the right thing immediately, and get that truck off the road before someone is injured or killed.

Welcome to Ram Forum.

Happened to me once , the floor mat was hung up on the go pedal

My former '07 Tundra had a recall for this floor mat/accelerator pedal issue.

Toyota doesn't mess around. They recalled many trucks and modified the trouble area by notching the floor mat, IIRC. This article reminds me, that they also tweaked something in the accelerator pedal assembly. The initial recall was for 3.8 million vehicles.

Funny you say that, because about 2 years ago I cleaned my truck and washed my rubber floor mats. When I put them back in somehow when driving to work the engine started revving and I pulled into a parking lot and shut it off. Started up and same thing. On a whim looked under the dash and sure enough my floor mat pinned my accelerator.
