Hi all,

It's been a few months since I got the Hemo put back together and I wanted to provide a quick update.

The truck is running great! Strong!

Fully warmed up water temp = 196 degrees
Oil temp 194 degrees
Oil pressure at idle of 650 = 40 PSI, when the idle drops to 500 I get 37 PSI. Still not sure why the idle drops to 500 but a quick tap on the gas pedal brings it right back to 650.
Oil pressure cruising - 65 PSI.

No ticks, no exhaust leaks, no oil leaks.

I want to thank all the members here for providing guidance to me who had never worked on a HEMI. I have a long history of wrenching - on old Pontioac Ram Air engines but never a modern HEMI.

So, thanks everyone. I hope I get another 130,000 miles out of it.

:)

If you have a Diablo,it seems to have an idle glitch somewhere in it. I used my old Diablo to up the idle rpm on my 300 and it does the same thing when it's warmed up,never does it cold, just when it's at 180+ engine temp, and it's been running for awhile.A quick tap on the skinny pedal brings it right back to 750,i've got in the habit of popping the car into neautral when coasting to a light,as it never does it in neautral, only does it when the cars in gear.I didn't use the diablo to tune the car,all i used it for is to up the idle rpm,and raise the speed limiter

My Diablo also has the idle glitch.
When I put the Hemifever tune in via the I3, the glitch is gone. I emailed Diablo and they said it was my truck lol.
And when the ambient air temp is cold, as noted above, the idle does not fall down to 500, it stays where it’s supposed to be, even with the engine at proper operating temperature.

Typical Diablo answer,it's never them,it's always you, lol. Custom tuning seems to get around the glitch, but if you use Diablos canned tunes,or just use it like i am to up the idle rpm and raise the speed limiter it seems to show up.I've seen lots of guys complain about the idle drop when the vehicles at operating temp.I'm even using my old T1000 that i bought back in 13,so it's not a new issue

I was only going to run a canned tune on mine, and it ran decent. I have the +30 MMX cam and figured what the hell, get a tune. Funny thing is as soon as I got the tune done, it changed my exhaust note and I got a bad drone. The truck ran great, but it droned so bad I actually hurt my ears within 20 min. I actually wore earplugs to get the data logging done. Now I still have tinnitus. I got the 24” mufflex removed and had them put the stock muffler back on, and put the Diablo tune back on. Still searching for an affordable drone free muffler, and waiting to get the Hemifever tune back on.

This all sounds odd to me. My truck, with OEM PCM, while running in drive and up to temp, would drop to 500 after 2 or 3 seconds when stopping at a light. That was the OEM PCM in it, not a tuned PCM. Figured that was the OEM answer to engine shut off at a light.

I have a Diablo Trinity 2 EX and now that RPM drop "feature" is gone. Basically have it just to run a built in 91 tune, turn up the RPM and adjust skinny pedal response (like a pedal commander). Just opposite of what I'm reading.

Not every truck has the idle drop issue using the canned tunes, but it's also not uncommon either.Once you go to a custom tune,i've never seen guys have issues with the idle drop,so it's got to be a glitch somewhere in the diablo unit itself, that might or might not show up.It seems to show up more often for the guys who have adjusted things like fan temps / idle rpm etc. several times, like if they swap thermostats between summer and winter and readjust the fans operating parameters a couple times a year.
