upper and lower ball joints?

ok so just got told i need to upper and lower ball joints the shop quoted me $1100 to do it **** that, ill do it myself. but i went to napa and asked for the parts they have the lower ball joints for sell for 38 a piece, but they said to get uppers i have to order the whole upper A arm? anyone know this to be true or not? thanks in advance

Just look at Advance too...and they are correct, uppers have to have the whole upper control arm...if you're willing to buy from Advance I can save you some $$$. Just let me know.

checked at advance and also check summitracing and summit is about 40 cheaper. man i really dont wanna spend this money

i found a an entire set; both upper control arm/ball joints, lower ball joints and new tie rod ends on ebay for $135. but i went out and looked at them a little bit ago and they look fine, think ill do an alignment myself at the auto hobby shop here on base.
