Used PCM question?

I have a chance of purchasing a used pcm for $100 and doing the swap for a diablo custom tune and keeping my OEM pcm intact. Is it worth doing.

I wouldn’t think so. It’s the same as mine locked OEM. But I understand that Moe’s performance offers a pcm swap for $699. If I purchase the unlocked only it’s $999.

Is ask Moe's see what they say. I know diablo is super sticky on it being the origional trucks pcm for the swap. If the used one ur gonna buy is the exact same as the one u have now I'd definately swap it and send the original one out. Good to have spares. That said I've been running an unlocked pcm from diablo with custom tune for a whyle now with no complications.

Check the P/N. If it matches and is from a 2015+ should be able to send it to HPTuners to unlock and reflash to your VIN. You would need an HPTuners interface to pull the OE flash off your current computer for them though. You might also be able to send it in to Diablo for their unlock service under the PCM send in price rather than doing an exchange and they should be able to re-vin it as well seeing as how thats what they do with the exchange program.

How do I get my trucks Calibration Id. Can I get it with AlfaOBD?

That looks like a 16,17 PCM and a quick google shows it should run an 18 once re-flashed. You can get the calibration ID from the sticker on your current PCM and if its been updated the dealer should've put a second sticker on it like the one on your used PCM. On the update sticker you want the P/N which is actually the CAL ID.

You can also read the current calibration ID with a Diablo.

This was not my experience with Diablo. I did a swap with them. They sent me out an unlocked PCM to match my truck before I even sent the one back that I bought secondhand
