I am strongly considering a throttle control device. Don't want to spend $300 for a PC, but I'd like to try something more affordable. I had a 2018 F-150 Ecoboost that had a sport mode, but rarely used it because it was too touchy. Would routinely break traction and fishtail with slight pedal press, plus it burns a lot more gas constantly being in the higher RPMs.
I'm sure, but there are some other products out there that do the same thing for a lot less $$$. I need to do some research on this.I get that but I can tell you after the first time you have drove it with the PC you'll forget about the cost and just remember how much more fun it is to drive.
I had an older V6. But I carry heavy loads and row more now, plus have the family on board so I would max a 1500 out. I agree ,though, the 6 is worth a look. And unless one will use all the extra towing and payload, there is quite a money saving opportunity to be had.The etorque flight was available on that correct? From a dead stop, that will compensate. However as others have mention gearing is worth as much or more than the engine torque and Hp. . They' re are a lot of door things said about that motor. However, this is going to purely boil down to the trucks mission statement. What do you need it to do. 3.55 is solid advice and most common after the 3.21. If you can find a 3.73 unicorn. It Chace that down. That etorque does fantastic at giving you the umph to get going of a dead stop. Don't underestimate it. I was imprempresive
I've had 3 Explorers with a V6 and my 98 Dakota was a V6 5speed manual.
None could hold a candle against V8 power.
An old saying still holds true for me:
There's no replacement for displacement.
That's fair but if you drive a Ram with a 3.6L I can almost guarantee you will be surprised. I came from a 99 5.2L Sport...no regrets.Yeah I know, but they're all I've owned for comparison. Everything else has been V8s.
So I have the v6 penstar in my Pacifica and it is a very good engine, I am just not sure the point of buying a 1500 series truck with a v6. Go get a mid size truck if that is your need.
The other concern would be the trans if the 8 spd dangling off of the pentastar is a ZF then go for it, if not I don't know how good the FCA rfe's are.
