Hello.

I bought a supposedly “built” transmission from Detroit Axle, installed it myself, and had nothing but issues with it. Let’s start off with the first FEW issues with this crapheap.

Firstly, when it was installed, it would immediately knock into Limp Home Mode after the shift into 2nd gear. Dropped the Valve Body, and figured out that those ******* morons put 7 check balls in a 5 check ball valve body with a 5 check ball separator plate. Issue fixed, now time to move on.

Second, earlier on (before the recent thread i made on it for the people wondering) i had bubbles in the trans fluid, and since i was putting in a new VB gasket and canister metal thread adapter i thought nothing of it and dropped to pan to find out that the CANISTER FILTER FELL OFF IN THE PAN, BECAUSE THEY COULDNT SCREW IT DOWN WELL ENOUGH. And to add onto that, the main sump filter was split because these ******* incompetent morons couldn’t use OEM parts in a transmission i paid nearly 2K for.

Lots of metal in the pan with small metal chunks when it hasn’t even been in for a week and the 4.7L doesn’t even make enough torque to destroy them off the bat. Absolutely ridiculous.

I’m almost 100% sure it’s just a junkyard trans they put a new coat of paint on too.

They claim to test each trans before they get sent off, which couldn’t be farther from the truth. If they test it then dear god they either have a 7 year old working the test machine or the person working it is just flat out ******* braindead.

Sorry for the long extended rant, but, i see another replacement trans from them (on warranty) in the near future. No slipping yet, but by next year i’m nearly 100% sure it will be.

NEVER shop with this company. Absolutely GARBAGE.

Well that sucks. I assume you brought all this to their attention (probably not the way you told the story here, lol), what have they said and what are they going to make it right?

I’m waiting for a response from them, but i hope they do something for some sort of compensation.

Something that comes to mind would be paying for the “old” transmission to be taken out and pay for it to be put back in would be nice. I just about killed myself taking out the old one. Or, a refund with the warranty on top of that.

This is ebay purchase? You still in window for money back?

No sadly, that was a month ago.

The metal in the pan isn’t being attracted to the magnet, and there wasn’t barely any clutch material in the pan. The metal was really light gold, so that leads me to believe it was from the torque converter breaking in.

I’m going to drive it until it fails, which could be any day now. I think the other “chunks” (which were relatively small) are from the case or the planetary gears, i’m not sure which. It’s operating fine and shifting through the gears really nicely now though so that’s all i know.

But still, that’s besides the point. I’ve seen their reviews on eBay say the same thing that i’ve seen, but, i read them too late to actually see them.

I now know that, so thank you. This was my first time swapping a trans or anything of that matter so i didn’t know, but, now i have that knowledge.

That sucks big time. Hope they don't try the old 'you worked on it so it's not our fault' routine on you.

That sucks big time. Hope they don't try the old 'you worked on it so it's not our fault' routine on you.

They already tried to pull that before, the solenoid pack that they put in failed a week or so after install and i contacted them about it going into limp home right after second and they claimed it was my fault because i didn’t do a quicklearn, which i did but i didn’t feel like it was of importance to type down and send to them in an email which i regretted immediately.

A day later they essentially told me to go **** myself and that my warranty was voided because of it, but, i replaced the solenoid pack myself and just pushed it off like it started working out of the blue with no explanation, and they accepted that and took my core, which means my warranty must still be valid.

Hope it works out for you.

I do too, i don’t think the internals of the trans are bad, and if they are then they’re very slightly bad. I think the metal in the pan is from break in, or atleast that’s what i hope...

That sucks.
Another hard lesson learned. I'm sure you now wish that you would have gone to a local rebuilder and paid extra to have it done right. At least that way if it's screwed up you have a local guy whose neck you can wrap your hands around.
