Are those lenses clear coated? I have everything coming this week to do my paint matched retrofit and just realised my lenses are peeling. So now I have to order new headlights before I can start, but really wanna know if clearing the lenses leaves ANY haze or anything that is visible. Yours look flawless

I'm knocking the truck down this week. I have several things I need to get done to it, starting with my injection pump and turbo getting rebuilt.

Doesn't takin' those apart require putting them in the oven at a light temperature to pull those apart?

I found some really neat retro kits where people added halos and such to factory headlights, tail lights, fog lights and such but you had to separate the lenses from the housings and then re-glue them back together.

A lot more than my current skill set...lol.

Dropped tranny pan, replaced filters and cleaned out all the old fluids. Was in very good shape after going about 50k miles and 4 years since I did it last.

Plus I removed the differential cover and drained then refilled the pumpkin. This HAD to be the first time this had been done - looked like original gasket but the fluid was still smooth and there weren't any metal shavings other than a few on the magnetic plug. Truck has 183k miles so that was waaaaay overdue!!!

Took the opportunity to paint the diff cover black to bring back some luster under there.

Good weekend projects.

Got my relay hooked up for the halos and the LED's for new headlights when I get em installed next weekend and got the light-load resistors put in for my new LED turn signal bulbs up front.

Got my Anzo third-brake light yesterday and got it hooked up. Wiring was a breeze, just one wiring harness to be unplugged from the old unit and plugged into the new one although I did have to bust out the Dremmel and do a little whittling to the two plastic guidel-stem doohickeys that align in two holes on the cab right below the screw holes to make it fit the body.

But I think I'm gonna have to call Anzo today, tho. I didn't notice it yesterday after finally getting it installed because I really didn't think turning the key on or starting it was a necessary step in verifying that the brake light worked and that the cargo lights worked properly so, I didn't get to notice it yesterday evening that this morning the cargo LED's were gonna stay on at a very dim setting after starting the truck up and leaving for work. lol.

When I got to work I thought I was gonna have to crawl in the bed of my pickup with a screwdriver and unplug the light because even after the truck got locked, the LED's were still staying on. Eventually they did turn off finally.

i have a similar 3rd, but not that one, i will say this, put silicone around it just in case...

most LED 3rds have some afterglow, i found one that doesnt so i stick with it, but you can either live with it or add a tiny little resistor to the parking lights and it will stay off, old trick from a long way back

Thanks for the advice. I thought about if I was gonna have to maybe add a small, thin, soft strip of more weatherstripping to the stuff they put on there just to ensure no leaks.

What the heck causes that?

Yeah, I read on some other forum that came up in a quick Google search about adding a resistor or something to correct the LED's staying on at a low power.

But why a resistor to the park lamp circuit tho? The cargo LED's still stay lit at low power even when the park lights are off. Even for probably about 5 minutes after everything is completely off, key out and locked.

Which third brake light you got that doesn't do this?

I dunno, depending on what Anzo tells me, I may be sending this one back and having them send me the one that reuses the original incandescent cargo bulbs. I'd really rather not do that because I like the LED cargos but I don't want them on at a low power all the time either.

Does that one have that resistor you told be about, already installed somewhere to keep it from doing that?

its all built in, just plug it and go, every 3rd gen ive ever owned has had one of these, i bought the solid red one for my 08, made my cargo light red, so thats a little bit of a loss but i have other plans for bed lighting, all my other trucks have ran the smoked ones like i linked you to, never had any issues out of them

I run a led 3rd brake light.....yeah the led's pick up the ''test'' voltage. but we are talking led's , this is, in no way hurting anything. imo . I noticed it once and said to myself ,cool, truck is letting me know the lights work.......:happy107:
