I had my new 305x45x22 Toyos road force balanced and then had the truck aligned. Truck has a 2/4 Bell Tech drop so the alignment was a little tough but the tech did an excellent job.

It started two weekends ago with some polite maintenance. New gear oil, transmission service, oil change and installing a nifty retractable below bumper step
Last weekend we dove into the lifters & rockers to address the pentastar tick. I had previously done it on a Grand Caravan and didn’t recall it being terrible…but with the engine so far back in the 1500 it became a PIA (I should have done one side a day like I did with my old van)
As it turns out one of my lifters had obviously failed as well as its rocker…and they took out the right intake cam…thankfully I was able to find one locally. We finished late and on the drive home an injector went out.
We opened it back up to replace the injectors and at first starting the starter took a dump.
Being spooked that so much was going sideways we reopened to to confirm the timing…and I pinched a wire on reassembly and had to soldier a new one on…
On the drive home I smelled fuel. Turns out one of the injector o rings didn’t sit right…replaced the o rings and …
Finally it seems happy….but man that was a lot of dough $500 lifters, $500 rockers, $500 cam, $200 starter, $300 injectors, $150 gaskets $50 o-rings, break in oil, regular oil, new connector…

Oooofa…

…and I still need to address the pentastar tick on the wife’s van

Bought a used oem brake controller to add to my truck. Installed it today,but will be a while before I can truly test it pulling my 33 ft camper. I have had a tekonsha primus iq in there since right after I bought my truck. Heard good things about the oem so I added to the list of things I've added to my truck since it's an express.

Put a new starter in it

I took her out for an errand last nite and it ran great
90 minutes later I get in for another errand, hit the starter and 'click'.....'click'
(Very audible clicks, about 45 second apart, like a relay opening and closing)

Decided to grab the wife's car and check later

Came back later and same thing, so I tossed the jump pack on it and it started BUT it sounded like the flywheel was stuck in quicksand, if that makes sense

Put the battery charger on it and went to bed

Fired it up once before leaving, all is well
Turned it off and made the kids breakfast, went to fire it up again 'click'....'click'
Only this time, I'm smelling that electric something's smoldering and wants to turn it burn smell

So, I decided to grab a new starter and I don't know if it's the transmission or the 2500 frame but this was WAY easier to swap then the Internet claimed
Took me about an hour and truth be told, most of that time was spend looking for my shop light before I decided to just use my flashlight

Got the old one off and the smell is definitely coming from there

Got the new one on and all is well in the world again

I swapped mine about 2 years ago when it went at work and wouldn't jump. Banged on the starter and got it to fire up. My 2017 Ram 1500 5.7 wasn't that difficult either. Seems by looking at it that it should be more difficult,but didnt take too long.

i was extremely lucky (actually, scratch that, i dont believe in luck, there was probably a lower level angel on there keeping it from frying) that it died in the garage in Michigan

just 2 weeks ago i drove it through Canada to Maine and back
i would not have enjoyed doing this laying in the snow by the cabin at 0 degrees farenheit

Gave her the good stuff just before eclipsing 200K in addition ran though a full tank of fuel mixed with RedLine fuel system cleaner. Removed filter with Ziplock bag trick and almost zero spillage thanks to this forum. My previous oil-arm is appreciative. But did noticed a broken manifold bolt/heat shield stud while I was down there; so that is now on the to-do list. Header suggestions?!...

Going to start researching. I'd imagine the shorties are an easier installation and ARH (or any long tubes) involve exhaust work. And...needing a welder.... to market place I go...

Mine is looking like there is a film wearing off of my screen. If the sun is shining toward the screen, I can't read anything on it. Did this protector help that?

I’ve been happy with my Stainless Works headers, no complaints, definitely not the cheapest option & have seen several post’s here about more affordable ones that work well.
Quality welds and fitment are the most important factors IMO.

She's been a good truck. Original engine and transmission, no major repairs. She does have a bad habit of eating cv axles though.

The plan is to drive her another few years and then buy a 2500 or 3500 diesel. She'll stay in the fleet though for occasional drives once her new sibling comes home.

Oil change with HPL SC 0w-30 (1st time for this oil) and RP 20-820 filter, plus new lube in the front and rear differentials and transfer case.

Just in time for the "winter storm" forecast for this coming weekend. Our daughter and 3 co-workers are counting on me and the mighty mighty Ram to get them to work early Sunday morning or the pharmacy will be closed. They all want to work, just fearful of the snow, but I love it.

I also live in PA, but I'm north east of Philly by about 40 miles. I've been helping my brother in law (he owns a landscaping business) with snow removal since I got laid off in December. We've been hit with a lot of little storms so we've been pretty busy. Not looking forward to a foot of snow. He's away on vacation so one less person helping now. He has a lot of commercial customers. I used to love going out after a snow storm,but not this year

With the manufacturing and shipping problems ARHs have had a lot of guys are going with Stainless Works headers. If you got really deep pockets Kooks is a quality header also.

i believe they claimed to be moving to a different facility and that was the reason for the delay

assuming that is true, id imagine the lead times are way less now

but, you know what they say about assuming

it always surprises me when people who live in the snowbelt and KNOW they will have snow 2-4 months out of the year, still choose to drive cars that are wholly inadequate and with all season tires to boot

(please understand, this is a general rant since I live in the snow belt and deal with this on a daily basis, not a jab at your family at all)

i got my wife in a AWD journey on blizzaks and that car is on rails, even in 3 inches of fresh snow

my boy has a AWD charger on nokians, that one still slides a lil, but it also has the R/T spec hemi

They moved about 4-5 years ago and they said they were having to train all new staff. I think they are still using that excuse for lengthy manufacturing times. Recently, I have read about some quality problems involving fitment and poor welds. I haven't had any problems with mine, but they are 5-6 years old. It's a shame because they were the go-to quality header for a long time.
