I am looking for the best waterless engine cleaner. I'm sure there are many types and substitutes but wanted to see what everyone uses. I have been looking at ultraluster tire and trim, and also have wondered how fukken wax would work out? Thoughts, suggestions, ideas, good and bad?

Water is what I'm trying to stay away from. The last time I used water it got down into my spark plug sockets and soaked my coils resulting in misfire, trouble codes, and it ran like crap until I pulled and dried the coils, and replaced the plugs.

If you're having trouble with water in your soark plug holes. Put some grease around the top of the hole in the valve cover. It should help. Also get some spark plug boot grease and put it where the plug clips into the boot.

As for the question, I don't think there really is a "waterless" cleaner. Unless you use a high pressure steam cleaner which doesn't leave residual water in the engine bay.

I use the simple green, it works great. You could always put a plastic bag over your coil packs so they don't get soaked.

I wipe mine down at every wash -- with a damp terry cloth. Sometimes I apply a dressing to the plastic/rubber parts. Thus, my engein bay never gets dirty enough to warrant a hose or degreaser. I once took a hose to the engine bay of my '92 Daytona IROC. Never again! Wipers started coming on by themselves, etc. Since then, the hose stays away from the open hood, and I wipe down at every wash.

I know some people use Meguiars #40 for the plastic pieces and Last Touch Quick Detailer for the non-plastics and painted surfaces.
