Hi all, I'm in the market to upgrade my 5" radio in my 2020 Ram 3500. There are a couple for sale near me for a really good price. When talking to the sellers, both are saying that the unit will work with my truck. I know it needs to be programmed, and I know I need the harness, but there is a difference between the two, and I don't know which one will work with my truck. I see that one has a big plug in the middle, while the other unit doesn't have it. Does it mean that it is different, or is it missing a module or something else? Any help would be appreciated; I don't want to make a mistake and buy something that I won't be able to use. I really appreciate any help you can provide.

The first one is from a 2019-21 5th generation truck. It is the Uconnect 4 platform. Wired Apple Car play and wired Android Auto. The second one is from a 2022-current truck. It is the latest Uconnect 5 system. The major difference between the two is the Uconnect 5 has wireless Carplay and Android Auto.

You shouldn't need any adapters for the first one to work, the second will require wiring adapters. Neither one requires an additional module. Neither one of the two have built-in navigation. The built-in navigation 8.4" units and the 12" units require a separate module and programing.
